Every team has a Rathbone or two. The Canucks’ depth isn’t nearly as strong as some fans would believe.
When Ty Smith cleared it was pretty clear Rathbone would clear.
Fagemo and Harkins could both have made the 23 man roster. Good pickups off waivers.
Not surprising, although I thought someone might grab Sheldon Dries
really not suprising at all, hopefuly this is a wake up call for these players. No doubt their agents reassured one or two of them that they’d be claimed, but you cant perform like they’ve been performing over the last 2-3 years and expect to be claimed.
I like Dries, hope he tries to bring out some physicality in the AHL and gets called up when we have injuries to our wing. He can score, but he cant play center in the NHL.
Woo definitely made steps in his defensive game and will likely enter a stage similar to where Brisebois is, next year, but hes not there yet. Needs to be faster, both on his feet and decision making, needs to really hone in on making an NHL career out of clearing the front of the net, bodying guys in the corner, and getting the puck out of the zone. Couldnt care if he only scores 0.125pts/gp in the NHL, if he can do that then he can be of use to us come playoff time when injuries stack up.
I think Rathbone needs to blow up the AHL so we can trade him for anything. It just wont happen here… I’m officially retiring the dream of him being a full time Vancouver Canuck.
