I think it was a vocal minority. Plenty of us were happy to let him cook.

Personally, I don’t think I ever said anything bad about Pat but I totally understand people getting frustrated this took till 10/2 to get resolved. Calling for him to be fired is excessive though.

No we don’t. He’s still proven nothing as a GM

Edit: imagine thinking a GM should get praise for getting a player signed for market value, after they already missed training camp, and a huge chunk of pre-season. đŸ€Ł ask yourself this, if Zegras didn’t deserve more than a bridge because he doesnt play a “complete game” wouldn’t a full training camp, with the new coach, and new system, and reps with his new teammate be worth more than let’s say 1 million in cap space, seeing as the Ducks have a single key players contract expiring during that 3 years Zegras signed for?

Unless you’re delusional enough to think he got him at under market value. When the most comparable contacts to Zegras are Elias Petersson, Anthony Cirelli, Brayden Point and Mat Barzal.

If these fans were a manager talking to their director, “look i got my employee to take less money and meet our budget”. 3 years later “man why did he leave and take another offer. I thought he was happy here. Now we are f*****”.

still need to get Drysdale signed before I will be happy

Lots of east coast bias when referring to Zegras and Drysdale. There’s also a thought that certain parties were pushing for the ducks and z to split by putting out misinformation. Special shout out to all the Z haters around the league saying he’s overrated.

Based on the information that’s come out, it sounds like Verbeek caved to the contract Zegras wanted and this deal could have been done before training camp. I think it’s a fair deal, but the process for getting there was sloppy. Looking at the Terry and Zegras negotiations, Verbeek is trying to get a reputation for ”grinding” players during negotiations but the results are just the Evolving Hockey contract projections, not some super team friendly deals.
