OK Guys, its time to revisit the 2018 draft. The Montreal Canadiens would select Jesperi Kotkaniemi 3rd overall, while the Ottawa Senators took Brady Tkachuk 4th overall.. The Canadiens would lose Kotkaniemi due to an offer sheet from the Carolina Hurricanes, while Brady Tkachuk is the current captain of the Ottawa Senators.
Its easy to look back at some of these drafts and be upset, especially for Habs fans, as they have missed out on many opportunities over the years to draft good talent and helpful players. Although, this one in particular stings for me, as I am a huge Brady Tkachuk fan.

Pretty sure it wouldn't have worked for Tkachuk either he's a crazy person and a little too intense
Kotkaniemi was ranked around 15th on average .. Tkachuk was top 5 on every list. Nuff said
Great job junkie ,we both spoke of this in the past,and it kills me to see Tkachuk in ottawa, he was my guy . The future will brighter with boys we have in charge now, the key will be us fans ,and the french media being patient ,its going to take time .

When the draft happened I wanted Brady . But needed a center so was ok with KK. I thought Brady would take awhile to be a difference maker. But he has shown he's a impact player and would have been signed right away. And we wouldn't have had the kk problems
Im not a big Tkachuk fan, but he was the best player available. Im sure I would have learned to like him as a Hab. 🤯🤯🥳🥳

Another MB screw up. Tkachuk was the best choice hands down. But the Habs development program would have found a way to screw that one up too.
Couldnt agree more. Did u see Berard's highlight goal last night? Deked the pants off a d man, then went between his legs and roofed it past the goalie, we NEED him!! Total pipe dream tho, lol, he will go to a team down south some where.
Not entirely upset with what the Habs did. Who knows where we’d be but I thank Kotkaniemi every night for winning Game 6 in OT over the Leafs. A series we will all cherish till we are in the ground.
It’s too early to be analyzing this IMO. Both the players are young and with time we will know who won in the end.
I wanted Tkachuk myself but the team decided to go with positional needs instead of best player available unfortunately.
Part of what made KK struggle I think is they rushed him too fast. He was a tall, lanky 18 year old who had only played on intl ice where the physical game is almost non existent and you have plenty of time and space. Some can adapt well to NA ice but alot of Europeans need a few years of seasoning before making the transition.
Montreal over the years has had a bad habit of miscasting players on their team. Plekanec was never a #1 centre nor was Danault but at times, that’s what was expected of them. Lars Eller was given big minutes on the top 6 where he couldn’t deliver. Now he’s thriving in WAS where he has less responsibility.
It’s up to the management to figure out what kind of player you have and then spot that player accordingly in your lineup. You can put all the spoilers and mag wheels and toys you want on your Miata, doesn’t make it a Ferrari.
Well put KK was a flop. He thinks he is better than he is. Braden is 5 times the player than KK is. Let's get drafting this year. ( Go Habs GO)

Brady Tkachuk is incredibly overrated especially by the KK haters. He wasn't even the consensus pick (it was Zadina).
