  1. He is playing a ton, and would be a bit hypocritical of them to keep going with the “best players play” mantra only to send him back to juniors after having an outstanding training camp and preseason.

The business side has to play into it, they most likely won’t be contending, and do you want to burn a year of his ELC.

He has been impressive. Glad both Johansson and Wallinder are playing tonight as well.

Are we going to find out if Chariot and Holl are a match? If not, which prospect draws the short straw with Ben tonight?

  3. SubmissionDenied

According to Max, looked like he was practicing with tonight’s PP1 line too

  4. non_target_eh

Zero chance that happens. I think *maybe* they could try for an exemption to get him into the AHL if they think he’s too good for the WHL.

Whatever, just keep Fabbri in bubble-wrap between shifts

Tonight will be a good test as the next step to making the team. He’s with mostly AHLers/rookies against an (albeit bad) NHL roster.

If he plays well tonight, then I hope he’s in against either Pittsburgh or Toronto starters. I think those two games should determine if he makes the team to start.

I’m just bummed at this Soderblom or Berggren contest that’s happening.

  8. lets_kill_time

Oh man. Chiarot is in. Let’s hope he can play “stay at home” dman role this time around

  9. zerobrains

There’s games today, tomorrow, and Thursday. They probably don’t want to overwork some of the regulars. This also gives the younger player some extra experience.

I think there’s a very strong possibility that Danielson makes the team this season. I know people have compared this to the Rasmussen situation, and there is a little similarity. However, there’s a big difference. Ras made the team as a bottom six player getting sheltered minutes. That appears to not be the plan, should Danielson make the team. He’s auditioning for a top six role and heavy usage right away.

I’m not claiming that for sure this will happen, but it sure looks to me like that’s what Yzerman and company are considering. In more than one preseason game he’s been among our best players. This is very similar to the looks Raymond got. I think it helps Danielson’s case that he isn’t eligible for GR, and that he’s on the older end of his draft class.

Damn wanted edvission agin but soderblom and nate makenme happy!

  12. Or they’re just trying to get him as much experience as possible before they send him down.

There’s no way they keep him if he’s playing 3rd or 4th line, IMO, and there are just too many guys in the way. But that’s okay. Going back to junior is the right move, IMO.

  13. With the amount they’re playing Danielson I think there is a real possibility they’re considering him for a 9 game at the start of the season…which is crazy cause if you told me that when we drafted you I would have laughed

I’m in the minority but Soderblom and Kasper need to be in GR, and Berggren has not looked good in the preseason. Soderblom’s skating deficiencies are obvious. Kasper looks on schedule, and I’m certainly not sounding any alarms, but Danielson just look ahead of him. Berggren has looked very soft so far. Hopefully he rebounds and plays well.

Danielson is outplaying all 3 of them, at least. And a few others. I’m really hoping he takes advantage of another game and proves he should be on this roster.

  15. Shotokanguy

I want to see Bedard try a move on Chiarot and get sent flying into the seats

  16. Danielson looks like he deserves more than 9 games. He plays both ends and makes a difference every shift. There are rough edges and the regular season will be a big step up but he definitely has what it takes.

All the doubts about him being the Wing’s first pick should be fading fast.

  17. MariachiArchery

Would be cool for sure, but I just don’t see Yzerman burning years on his ELC.

If this draft pick hits big, he’ll be looking to get paid right around when our cup window might be expected to open.

I think the best course of action is keep him on his ELC as long as possible. We don’t *need* him right now. We’ve got the depth.

  18. Kitchen_Yak_676

Before they make a decision, how about a line with him at center with Raymond and Ras?

  19. notsobold_boulderer

In my opinion, we should deal Veleno. We have too many forwards, and I think he could be great on another team. And also I kind of soured on him after his suspension in worlds

  20. el_Technico

Sure would be great if the B team offense and defense destroyed the shit hawks similar to last game. LGRW !!!

  21. I realize the logjam is a problem, but I feel like it is a good problem to have. So long as we don’t mismanage our way into losing someone to a waiver wire pickup, this points to a lot of good trade assets in the future. Like so many things at the end of the Holland era, we lacked the resources to make the kind of trades you need to build a real contender. An AHLer isn’t going to buy you a superstar, but bundled with other assets, a player that might not ever make the starting lineup could be moved out for someone who can. I’m excited for the direction of this team, even if this year we are still only 50-50.

  22. RedWingsFan1990

If Danielson plays like hes been it’s safe to say that he makes the team after this game

Always love to see 63, 67 and 72 together. “Sweet” “Hope” and Bliss.
