I will be pretty annoyed if they end up losing Zac Jones on a waiver claim.
Not in the “he’s so much better than this guy we are playing”, but offensively skilled RHD have value around the league so it would be mismanagement of an asset.
If this is about jones, can they not just trade him? Even if it’s for a 5th round pick in 2035, it’s still better than nothing.
If this is about jones. Why cant they just play him? Worst case he ends up being a waiver guy, best cases he either deserves to play or increases his trade value. He is a very good puck moving dman with good defensive per 60 stats. Some of those stats were near fox

With alot these decisions it also comes down what is best for the player. Jones, Cooler, Otter, is it in their best interest to be spot lineup players over losing them to a team that if they claim them?
I don’t know each players respective eligibility on being waiver exempt or not. Just as I am not sure if they do get claimed the player has to make your opening roster.
If Emberson gets a legit shot as a 5th or 6th dman for San Jose….good for him. Bad for us because Drury easily could have phoned Grier and asked if he would trade a late round pick for him. It just is another notch in the Drury is not a good GM belt.
Like if he is not sure on a player and there is even the slightest chance someone will claim him it is in his best interest to call every GM in the league and just ask for a trade. We have lost Hunt, and Tinordi last season for nothing. How hard is it to just call? Put out a feeler. Pay someone to call every GM?
So this effort thing we see from the players stems from the top as it is with all things that are rotten.
