The Winnipeg Jets have traded star forward Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for three forwards and a 2024 second round draft pick.
Dubois was a restricted free agent coming off a one-year contract.
He has agreed to an eight-year contract worth an average annual value of $8.5 million US through the 2030-31 season, for a total of $68 million, the Kings said in a release.
Dubois, 25, had 63 points (27, 36) in 73 games for the Jets last season, the second straight year he eclipsed the 60-point mark.
“Pierre-Luc Dubois is an elite two-way centre with a unique skill set, and we’re excited to have him join the organization and commit to us long-term,” said Rob Blake, general manager and executive vice president of the L.A. Kings in a statement.
“Over the last few seasons, he has proven the ability to contribute to all facets of the game and we are thrilled to be able to add a player of this calibre into our lineup.”

Great player. Solid guy. Very disappointed with the way he and AI were left out there in rumors for 3 days. Not just lightweight rumors, but Friedman, LeBrun, Dreger. I know it wasn't the Kings who leaked it, most likely it was Pat Brisson, but I'm still pretty ticked off that it went down that way. Gabe's hands and skill are off the charts, you'll love him in WPG.
Try smiling buddy
I hope he holds out. He deserves better then Wpg.
Gabe hold the NHL record for fastest goal in career. 10 seconds into his first shift. He was one of my favorite Kings, will miss him.
This one was hard for me – when we drafted GV I was stoked – will be watching a lot more Jets games
It sucks losing gabe he was just starting to become a great hockey player for kings if it was me I would’ve traded byfleid instead
I wouldn’t be smiling either going to Winnipeg from la
We hope you like it here Vilardi, we know this isn't Cali but hope you stick around.
Kings made a mistake getting rid of Vilardi.
Gabe seems hurt
Can tell he is not happy with being sent packing.
Can’t one of those reporters have asked, even with your agent handling all the contract negotiations, you have to had some idea where you and the Kings stood as far as negotiating a new contract was concerned, do you think this played a part at all in your being traded?
And second question. Kings GM Blake made a point that he wanted to see you stay healthy for a full season. Can you finally divulge what your late season injury was if it wasn’t your back that may have been throwing caution to the wind as far as Blake was concerned as far as possibly being reinjured?
Gabe is streaky, but sometimes he is the best player on the ice.
