Today we’ll be recapping Game One of the Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars game, which saw Matt Dumba lay a hit on Joe Pavelski. All that and more covered on today’s NHL hockey video!
It's not "finishing a check." It's a predatory hit. Watch he doesn't even take the stride toward the victim until AFTER Pavelski moves the puck. NHL is afraid to touch 'minorities' that's all there is to it. That's two headshots in two weeks from this jackass
Another crazy occurrence was when Seguin was high-sticked just as the whistle was blown. It led to no calls, but it only added to the frustration of how the refs seemed to want to give the Wild as many opportunities to get back into the game. Dallas should have won this game, but was lackadaisical in their own zone after 4 and a half periods.
Two seconds my foot. It is about 1 second in slow motion. In real time it is about 3/4 of a second. A dangerous hit because of the way it went down, but very legal. I hope Joe is okay.
Close call but I think it was a clean hit. Pavs is so solid on his skates that even though he didn't see it coming he knocked Dumba flying on his ass. Dumba landed luckily, Pavs did not. I wish Pavs a speedy recovery. Much better series with him in it.
Pavelski knocked himself out with his own stick. I f you look at the replay he would've been fine or just sore if he would've kept his head up and stick down.
absolutely is not a clean hit, at BEST its predatory. Using your own teammate as a screen, blindsiding a player, with no intentions of playing puck or position purely going for injuring a player vastly better than you from a notoriously dirty player on one of the most suspended teams in the league.
playoff hockey isn't an excuse to abandon playing the puck so you can injure the best players on the other team. You also don't knock a player out cold on impact by hitting them in the shoulder, that isn't how that works and Pavs was OBVIOUSLY knocked out cold as he didn't brace for impact on the ice
Waited for this video. Watching this game was very tilting as a Stars fan because of the shitty reffing. Never have I seen so many missed calls. I'm pretty sure there were at least three trips that went uncalled. I think the hit was slightly late, but what I really think is bad about the hit is that it was reckless. It wasn't a square hit, and Dumba had a foot up while doing it. It's one thing to be ready, it's another to be hit sideways. Really infuriating yet exciting game. Also to mention, two trips happened right in front of ref fov, the calls really seemed biased.
Dumba's hit is a Jake Trouba special, lunge at the guy after the puck is gone since he is vulnerable and you can knock him out. If the player is expecting it, pass on the hit and wait for an opportunity when he is more vulnerable.
None of the angles they had on ESPN really let you see what happened. If you find an angle that Bally Sports had on the local Dallas feed, you can see that Dumba DID bring his shoulder into Pavelski's head and that it was not shoulder to shoulder. Pavelski's head certainly hit the ice hard, but it was not the only time during that sequence that he took a blow to the head.
That Dumba hit is more than early if that Jansen hit wasn't late. this was a clean hit that had an unfortunate aftermath. In no way am I trying to downplay Joes injury, it's scary, especially with his history of similar head injuries. I hope for the best for Joe and I hope this isn't a career ending injury
Textbook hit, nothing wrong with it at all. Only reason it looks bad is because of how Dumba loses balance after. Unfortunate Joe got hurt, but thats just the nature of playoff hockey.
It’s always a dumb hit when you are out to hurt ,it’s reminds me off scot Stevens ,and Matt cook ,and others when you check another human being ,it should be to take him out off the play ,not out off the world ,those players who doe such awful hits ,should never be allowed to play hockey any more ,they are destructive and intentional ,they need to be taught a lesson if they are allowed to play hockey ,they should be hit hard enough to glue them on to the boards ,so you would have to scrape them off the boards ,then ask them how they feel about ,dirty hits ,enough
Looked clean to me. This is getting absurd. Every time someone gets blown up, the players are going for revenge 🤦♂️ This is hockey. If it’s too much for you perhaps you’re playing the wrong sport. Maybe switch to baseball? 🤦♂️
Second dip four days later, Ryan needs to clock someone first players to cross check krill Illegal cross check injury happens every time, they are distracted by Krill that part is awesome that’s why every other players is beating them.
I'm a stars fan this hit me hard just because his age. It was kinda like wow bro targeting the near 40 year old man with a hefty targeted hit low blow.
Dallas fan, and I think the hit wad a bit late. Legal? Probably, but it was nasty and hard to watch especially seeing Pavs eyes as he was helped off the ice.
I don’t have much sympathy for pavelski after he hit his own head on the face off against the knights. This dude hits his head on the ice more than anybody else.

it wasn't even 2 seconds in slo-mo. It was 0.5 seconds real-time. Why did you say 2 seconds?
Having the last name "Dumba" must suck

Saw this happen in person, such a scary hit, hopefully the stars will take matters into their own hands the rest of the series

Oettinger definintly had one of his best games but Gustavson with the franchise record for saves takes the cake
I enjoyed watching this a bunch actually other than the injury this hit was amazing anyone who thinks it’s dirty is casual asf
hope dumbo gets injured really bad
This dudes never played hockey. This isn’t football you can hit the quarterback

The one on Kaberle was extremely late

It was clearly intent to injure clean or late hit whatever. The Stars must take revenge on one of their star players.

2 seconds would have been a very long time
It was easy for me to watch. Sucks seeing people get hurt. But a great way to finish a check. Love it
2 seconds later? yea, at 1/4 speed.
2 seconds late if you're watching it on 50% playback speed. Dumba finished his check in a playoff hockey setting is all I see
LETS GO WILD

Matt dumba's should have been a ejected he left his feet and he was targeting the head

"2 seconds late"?… that wasn't even 2 seconds in slow motion, you clown.
NHL now gonna play on rubber matz, and wear sneakers
Dumba #55
I found it pretty easy to watch. It helps if you keep your eyes open.

Why does every criticize the wild? Like that hit was a w lol bro deserved it. And you know who deserves a hit like that? SUTER! RYAN SUTER!
Yeah 2 seconds later when it's slow like that
Dumba is a dirty prick. Overall.
Textbook hit, nothing wrong with it at all. Only reason it looks bad is because of how Dumba loses balance after. Unfortunate Joe got hurt, but thats just the nature of playoff hockey.
Meh that’s a clean hit unless you are new to hockey. The Janssen’s hit Kaberle was a completely different animal.

You lead with 2 seconds later…did you watch it in real time? If that’s 2 seconds than pigs fly.

How is that hard to watch?

That hit on Pavelski was clean and it wasn’t even close to the one you referenced. The one you referenced was wicked late.
I hope Pavelski is OK. It’s the playoffs though, he gotta be a little more ready for that idk.

I dont like dumba l, but him almost forcing pavelski into retirement was glorious.
Eck, how about that hit on Flames Jakob Pelletier in Seattle over the weekend? Requires shoulder surgery, out indefinitely.
