I believe Selanne was traded as per instructions, after the team was acquired by its new owner, to reduce salary cost before it moved. Had the Jets 1.0 been able to land a new arena in Winnipeg there is no doubt that Teemu would have been the cornerstone of the team for many years. He was one of the most exciting players to ever wear a Jets jersey and fans loved him.
