Phil Kessel is about to get the NHL’s new Iron Man record, and could reach 1000 games played – but just how good was Phil the Thrill Kessel, and does he have a chance of making it into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
Phil is a legend, Hall of Fame or not. His physique is so, um, relatable. He just looks like a regular dude. Such skill, and I'm certain, hard work, bely that unassuming exterior though.
Kessel reminds me of Mike Gartner. Never dominated the league as a scorer, but always reliable for 20+ goals a season. I think he’s Hall of Fame worthy.
Not sure why Hall of Fame all of a sudden means that you've had to be the best at producing points or such. If he reaches 1000 games, yes – hall of fame. Simple. Compare to others on that list.
Him leaving to go see his child be born doesn't change his iron man status. He was still able to play if he wanted to but chose family over his career, unlike Tom Brady
He played in a far tougher era. Do you know guys used to body check each other? This is the all star game style era. No physicality no hitting. Numbers are skewed for many of these young guys.
With him having two cups, being the all time iron man playing in soon to be 1000+ games in a row and him soon to reach 1000 points(959 rn), I’d say he goes to the hall
Phil kessel is 100% a hall of fame player. The penguins DO NOT win those cups without him. He’s an nhl staple. There’s more to hickey than just pure stats
Phil should have a Conn Smythe trophy in his trophy case, but hockey media had to worship Crosby despite Phil having much better numbers in that first cup win.
he is one of those players that is on the line of being hall of fame and not being hall of fame material. i could see him getting to the hall of fame, but at the same time i can understand if he doesnt make it. i just think looking at a trophy collection isnt a great take, because all nhl players will tell you that sometimes you need to sacrifice personal gains and trophies for the good of the team, thats how champs are made.
If you can keep urself playing at the highest level that many games, keep making points, i don't know who's the better player for iron man. Respect to kessell. U know he fought down even cancer ❤️💪💪
That Iron Man streak is enough for me. He's a really goal scorer, won 2 cups, and he has the record for kost games played in a row. Anybody who is the current record holder should be in the HOF.
Do you play fantasy hockey? If so, you would understand how often guys get injured or miss games here and there. His Iron Man streak is absolutely legendary in my eyes.
Phil Kessel is a hall of Famer. He was an elite player in his prime. He dealt with testicular cancer, & went on to play the most consecutive NHL games in history. I don't think SKILL alone gets you into the hall of fame, or Wendel Clarke is not a hall of fame. To be in the hall of fame you need to have been an ACCOMPLISHED player. I believe the things he has accomplished a reminiscent of a hall-of-fame career, no doubt about it!

Ur channel is growing so fast, great news source. Wouldnt be surprised to see you hit 100k+ this season with these consistent uploads

Toronto did him dirty. Glad he got out of here. This city treated him like trash
Hot dog Phil deserves the hall of fame
Don't question his candidacy. He's earned it already.
Phil “The Thrill” Kessel
Very very good player, not HOF worthy though. Close though
if Marleau does then its the same standard to Phil
and no Marleau shouldnt be in the HOF just because he didnt retire
1000 consecutive games is an achievement that I don’t think an asterisk beside the one shift game is gonna stop from being HOF worthy

PHIL KESSEL IS A JETS FAN?!
Half of fame? No
Great player/underrated? definitely
Iron man.
400 goals and counting.
3 time all star.
Bill Masterton award winner (first rookie to win it).
Back to back stanley cup champ (and such a key piece to them that he is widely considered as the player most deserving of finals MVP in 2017).
Beat cancer while continuing his professional career.
During the 2011-12 through 2013-14 seasons, he was SECOND in scoring for the ENTIRE league.
Dude should 100% be a future HOF’er.
in one word, Nope
Him leaving to go see his child be born doesn't change his iron man status. He was still able to play if he wanted to but chose family over his career, unlike Tom Brady
he was arguably the conn smythe winner in 2016. Guy's been a great player and will probably sneak into the hall a few years after his eligibility
He is definitely a HOF player. Absolutely nonsense to not put him there.

Phil is hands down a HOFer
if he gets to 500 goals yes….
Donna Summer is in the Rock N' Roll HOF. Why not Phil?
Hated seeing him leave Toronto

As a habs fan he is definately a hall of famer no doubt

The Cookie Monster, The Glizzy Gobbler, The Thrill
One of my favorite players, sad that he got traded from bruins
He’s in the Hall of Very Good. Really good but not quite HOF level.

anyone who breaks the ironman record deserves HOF no matter what IMO

I mean, on a scale of one to fat girl 🤣
Let's ask the league how he approached the catwalk.
More interesting conversation now that he has a third cup. I think hes in if he gets the 8 points he needs for 1,000.
3 cups
You are a moron if you don't think he is a hall of famer
