On one hand, I don’t really expect vets to take preseason seriously, but on the other, did we learn nothing from the McTavish-Strome-Vatrano debacle that lasted way too long last season?

I know its just preseason and all these guys are still working through the new systems and playing with new teammates…. but…. oof, a little disappointing that Gudas, Fowler, Carlsson, Vatrano, and Strome all are the ones filling out the bottom end of the game scorecard.
I watched the game and eye test I didn’t think any of them looked as bad as this indicates. I felt like the team went to a more man-on-man defensive scheme last night that looked a lot worse in general compared to previous games which seemed to be more zone defense before.
Lacombe looks like he should make the team this year though imo – probably looked the best on defense last night even compared to Fowler/Gudas.
