How do we feel the Leafs will fare compared to Dom’s model?

The Tampa drop is bigger than expected and the Boston drop is less than expected in my mind.

Rangers being that high is a surprise to me

  2. Tampa had 98 pts last year and they’re projecting for 95 with Vasi out for 2 months. I’d say they’re actually expecting Tampa to be stronger overall than last year once Vasi is back in net

  3. Depends.. how accurate was the model for the previous season?

I don’t understand Edmonton or Carolina’s placement. I think it should be Dallas and New Jersey IMO.

Us and Edmonton are direct parallels of each other: we’re contenders as long as our goaltending can make up for our piss poor defence. As it stands, I think we’d get slapped around in the third round by Carolina, New Jersey, Florida or Tampa.

no real surprises here to my eye. all the good teams are at the top, all the bad teams are at the bottom, and all the mid teams are in the middle. only thing that stood out to me was tampa in a tier with ott, van, and nyi. even with vasy missing time I would expect them to be a step above. I guess that just goes to show how abysmal the backup goaltending situation is there.

  6. Probably about right. Leafs should be favourites to win the division. It would be nice for them to win it and not be close.

Edmonton, Boston and Arizona should be dropped down a tier. Vegas should be bumped up one, Tampa should be bumped up by two tiers I think. Other than that it’s not too terrible

  8. What the heck is that logo between Anaheim and Montreal? Did I miss an expansion?

The oilers get 102 points just from mc David

  10. I don’t see how Edmonton get favoured over the Leafs. They both lost in the 2nd round and the Leafs had 2pts more in the regular season.

    Bruins aren’t Cup contenders.

  11. Leafs should just never be cup contenders until they show up in the playoffs. I’m a fan but every year they’re always favourites for reasons i dont’ know why.

  12. Boston and NJD have the same shot at a cup? model might need work

  13. Parzival091

Boston seems like the only egregious one on there to me. I think they’re more a 95ish point team this year than 105 with the losses up front.

Nashville is garbage. They should be a lottery team. Who the fuck is Tommy Novak?

  15. AustonStachewsWrist

Looks about right. Now time for that puck to make its choices on bounces.

  16. SerenePotato

McDavid gets a long term injury and Edmonton is out of the playoffs picture.

Matthews has gotten long term injuries and the Leafs play at the same level.

    Now, which team is better?

  17. OzzieNewYork

People who know the Leafs for decades know they will never win. Odds in Vegas are always better for a Leafs cup win than what they really should be.

The problem: No ability to make tough decisions to win.

How can you “Run It Again” after 5 years of abysmal failure and expect to win?

  18. Unboopable_Booper

What are the odds on ’embarrassing exit’ That’s usually the safe bet.

  19. LostBeneathMySkin

Oilers being cup favourites is a joke. Leafs have a better shot at the cup than that 2 man team.

I think the three top teams in the league are Carolina, Toronto and New Jersey.

La, Tampa, and arizona are very underrated here. Boston should be quite a bit lower and the rangers at 3 is basically just fully betting on Shesterkin.

Basically, swap Tampa and Boston. Swap devils and the rangers. Swap La with Florida. And move arizona to insiders.

Leafs are pretty much in the right spot, Rangers could be lower than us, but they definitely should be below Dallas. Buffalo should be slightly higher than Ottawa. They will not be a whole tier worse than Vancouver. The Coyotes above the Caps is a choice lmao. Boston should be the top of Playoff Calibre tier. I don’t think Zacha will grow into the 1C role right away and Ullmark will probably not match the absurdly good year he had last year, so I don’t think they’re quite Cup contenders. But you can’t count out their elite blue line, so I think they’ll still make the playoffs.

  22. DaltonFitz

I think he has Buffalo too low. They have a bunch of players who are taking drastic steps each year. Very good all around. If Levi turns out they could be scary.

  23. Dom is a fraud, not sure why that guy has a platform .

  24. spaceporter

I think ANA, CHI and MTL are probably going to take steps forward into bottom feeders territory.

I wouldn’t be that surprised if BUF ends up above OTT. I think OTT is likely a WC, whereas BUF is anywhere from third to out.

I like the list at the top for the most part. Finally Dom isn’t too much of a homer.

I could see TBL and BOS both finishing outside the playoffs or winning it all because god hates us.

EDM has to be given that respect, but their goaltending will ultimately let them down. I’d feel bad for them if I didn’t also secretly hope that when we win the Oilers become the new laughingstock.

  25. thedistrict33

Does he know that Edmonton has Campbell in net?

  26. Volderon90

Leafs should be in line to win the division but it’s Toronto sports so some random team will have a year for the history books and take the mantle

  27. Butterflies6175578

I just can’t get on board with the Oilers being a cup favourite. Contender possibly but not a favourite.

  28. Could argue about that he fringe teams maybe but it’s not too far off from what I would expect. Oilers are overrated though

  29. Don’t pay too much attention to the legend on the left the difference between Minnesota and LA is a regulation win lol.

  30. TiredReader87

I think it’s crazy that he thinks the Oilers are favourites with their D and goaltender

  31. dreamsdrop

Dont think theres any clear cut “favourites”

Boston too high, tampa dark horse

    Phoenix too high

    Switch seattle and van
