He was a leader and produced pretty well while racking up the penalty minutes.

That was quick, I barely had a chance to finish the preseason recap vid before this one posted.
Oh yeah I member 😊
I love when you do whaler history
He was a gamer. If I recall, he suffered from Crohn's disease, or it was someone close to him.
One of my favorite moments of symmetry in hockey, Dineen scored the last goal in Whalers history and the first Goal in Hurricanes history. The same player also scored the last and first against, Dino Cicciarlli with Tampa and Florida.
Love the career videos
Was trying to find a Chris Phillips career video but couldn't find one, has there ever been one made of his career?
BRING BACK THE WHALE
Fierce competitor, strong on his skates, forechecked like he meant it .
kevin dineen also had crones disease around 1990 time frame.
Future Devils Coach
Dineen meant alot to the city of Hartford and was beloved by everyone here no surprise he went on to become a good coach
I had the fortune of seeing him play his last game in Hartford before his trade to Philadelphia. I was visiting that week to see the whalers play. It was huge news the day he was traded and I remember the city being very upset about his trade.
Throwback special: Mallrats quote about "The Whale" beating Vancouver only once or twice in a lifetime and Hartford Civic Center was a mall. Coincidence?!?!
best sweater ever.
So, how about a career video of PJ Axelsson?
My all time favorite player. He was one of a kind. Couple notes. If he doesn’t sprain his ankle in the 87 Canada cup he probably has a better year. Tko’d kluzak with a straight left. Scored perhaps the most famous goal in whalers history. OT game winner game 4, 86.
awesome. now do Randy Ladoceur
Thanks for the upload. He scored some of the craziest goals I’ve ever seen. He would literally jump over defenseman and swing his stick to put the puck in the net. Played in rendezvous 87 and the Canada cup in the same year. That’s special. Great stuff
I remember watching alot of Leafs vs Whalers games…. I always liked his game ✅….I remember he tussled with Wendel once (and regretted it 🤣)
He won't be inducted!
My Mom and Dad actually knew the Dineen's in Highschool and my Aunt even dated Jarry Dineen, I was shocked when I was informed of this but decided this would be an appropriate video to share it.
Yes, Murray Craven video, please!
My mom nannied two of Kevin's nephews when I was growing up for a couple of years, their father was the scout Dineen, I think for Chicago? He knew we were a family of hockey fans, so after the boys had gotten old enough to not need care as a thank you to my family I was given a signed poster that still hangs in my bedroom – "Hey Escalotes, work hard, and play clean. Kevin "11" Dineen
A career video on Dwayne Roloson would be cool to see.
You read my mind, Shannon!! Seeing Dave Tippett in the thumbnail of your Bernie Federko video got me thinking about which Whalers I'd like to see featured in a career video and Kevin Dineen was the first who came to mind. Skilled, tough, and absolutely fearless he was the spark plug of the team when I was growing up in CT. No slight meant to Ron Francis but to me #11 will always be the heart and soul of my beloved Whale.
Total stud. A natural leader. I can see why he became a head coach!
I remember Kevin in college at Denver U. I can still recall how he could down a half gallon of milk in record time. A really good guy, as were his siblings. We knew then he would have a great career.
Murray Craven would be a good one.
Dineen had a good career. Pretty amazing he stuck around so long considering the injuries he must have had.
dineen was an energy guy and a grit guy and the pims reflect that and that truly made him a great all around player..and beloved..francis and dineen were pretty much the franchise players
Didn't know his history when I was going to Blue Jackets game. Good to round out his history. Thanks. I really liked him.
Kevin was my coach when I was in the Hartford Whaler Hockey Camp in the early 90's at Avon Old Farms!!
Mi mum was late picking me up one day and he came flying through the driveway in his Jeep, he slammed on his brakes and was like, "Hey Mark, do you need a ride?" I didn't take it, but what an awesome guy!!
Ron Francis and Mike Liut where my neighbors too. They lived in Canal place and I lived on Redstone Drive in Simsbury.
Thanks so much for this! I used to go to Hartford Whalers games with my family when I was just a little kid and they were part of my first exposure to the sport of hockey! Kevin Dineen was my favorite Whaler! (Even though I’m a die hard Bruins fan!)
He was so loved in Hartford he received an ovation from Hartford Wolfpack fans when he returned to the XL Center as head coach of the Portland Pirates.
Good. You did him.
Bring back the WHALERS to Hartford!!!
Not sure if you saw graphic designer Peter Good passed away today at 80, his claim to fame was he created the iconic Whalers logo when they entered the NHL. Would be a cool video:)
Just was given a Hartford Whalers hat…. I remember Kevin Dineen very well even though I'm a penguins fan
