How are we feeling about this move? Seemed to be visible every time he took to the ice.
Expected. Let him develop a bit in the AHL. No need to rush right now.
Like it. Could help the team more to develop at the pro level if he’s getting a ton of minutes. PP, PK, playing against the AHL top lines.
Cuylle was better and more ready I think. Better to have Othmann play in Hartford and get better than potentially sit in the press box….Cuylle forced himself onto the team
I assume this means Cuylle has officially made the opening night roster
I would have loved to see him wreck the league this year, but this makes the most sense and I’m glad we’re actually investing in developing our talent the right way. He’s gonna have a huge year with a ton of minutes, and he could get his 9 games in the NHL later in the season anyway.
Great move, this dude has a bright future.
If Othmann scores a shit load of goals down there, they will bring him up quickly.
As expected and great for his development. I think after cooking in the A for one year he is gonna be ready.
Also I suspect this means Cuylle made the show which is awesome.
He’s definitely better off in Hartford for development and TOI. I would love to see him play great down there and come in to The Garden later in the season ready to contribute and hopefully a playoff run. I am an optimist through and through but that virtue is hard to hang on to, especially as a lifelong Rangers fan.
This is good. We see what happens when players don’t get AHL time. He’ll be back when there’s an injury, and definitely next year.
Looks like Cuylle is making the team
On the one hand, PITCHFORKS! ANGER! BURN IT DOWN!
On the other, more reasonable hand, definitely better for him to get some time in the AHL so he’s not thrown to the wolves or sits in the press box. Here’s hoping to see him either later in the season or tearing it up next season in the big leagues.
I wish some of our other prospects could have spent time developing in the ahl
Wonder if Cuylle has made the team or if they’re keeping him up until Pitlick’s injury becomes more clear—if he’s gonna miss a couple games, then it makes sense to keep Cuylle up.
Like it. Let his play continue to improve and force drury to have to make a move to get him in top9
Correct move
“Also, credit to Othmann for a solid camp and good showing in the preseason games. Plan was always to get his feet wet in the AHL first — there’s no reason to rush him — but he made a positive impression and could be back relatively soon if he plays well for Hartford.” – From Vince Mercogliano on Twitter/X
Top line minutes in the AHL are more beneficial for him than fourth line minutes in the NHL. Who knows, he could tear it up in Hartford and force himself onto the team.
I live in Hartford. Best player we will have on the ice since Igor. Excited to see him until he gets brought up
Boooooo
I really wanted to see Othmann and Cuylle make this team over the likes of Goodrow, Vesey, Bonnino or Pitlick.
Othmann isn’t ready.
Cuylle should make the team, i’d rather have him than Pitlick or even Vesey
NYR twitter isn’t going to like this one. Even though they rant on how the rangers don’t develop young talent well, they’d still rather have him run on the 3/4 line than get top line minutes in Hartford
Kid’s probably disappointed but he’s going to light up the AHL. Only a matter of time before he’s a top 6 fixture.
It’s a shoulder shrug from me. He’s going to benefit greatly from the A, and it’s high time we put in place a proper structure for our prospects to goto the AHL first, followed by the NHL, so we do not stunt anyone’s development by throwing them into the show too early.
