This was actually a pretty entertaining game. Both teams look ready for the regular season.

  1. Laferriere looked good next to Dubois and Fiala tonight. Better than Kaliyev has looked honestly. If they can make it work, I'd think he'd make a good replacement for Kaliyev in the first couple of games.

  2. Why is there overtime during the preseason? Like who would care besides a overly obsessed hockey fan?

  3. I was at the game Shannon, the Sharks crowd was definitely bigger than the Kings crowd. You are not wrong. Sharks crowd was loud all game when they had opportunities.

  4. Good game what I was able to see Sharks Kings always seem to entertain SJ always seems to play LA just a little bit tougher

  5. The Ballys broadcast jumped forward on the OT GWG and missed it entirely. Ballys can't die fast enough.

  6. Not sure why California teams are playing in Salt Lake City. VGK and Avs should be playing there instead. Kings and Sharks have plenty of potential fans (like over 30 MILLION) in their home markets to try to convert without needing to go 500 miles away.

  7. I might have to support Laferriere just because I was a huge fan of Laperriere when he played. Would be fun

  8. I can't believe the work you did on this!! As a Kings fan I appreciate the comprehensive recap. Do you have a Day Job? Someone should hire you. You're better than half the guys out there. Nice job. Thanks.

  9. I add to the voices saying that there were more Sharks fans (including myself). There were still plenty of Kings fans, but they didn't out number those who were cheering for the Sharks. At the top of our section, there were some Redwings fans that I guess got tired of hearing "Let's Go Sharks" and started a "Let's Go Redwings" chant.

  10. I lived in Salt Lake and had several die-hard Sharks fans as co-workers and/or roommates. There are a lot of San Jose transplants in the valley. I was not very popular as a Pens fan in 2016…

  11. I was at the game. Loved it! The fans were really into it. They showed up. It was amazing. Really good game. There’s NO WAY SLC doesn’t get a team. I don’t think AZ gets that many fans from last night, to show up to any of their games. how much more proof NHL wants.

  12. The Sharks find a way to be fun to watch, no matter how good or bad they are on paper and no matter how good or bad they are on the ice.

  13. I wish they would’ve had Colorado play in SLC that market tends to root for Denver teams when there isn’t a local team. But still great that they played the game there anyway

  14. 8:00 If you've never been here you might be forgiven for not knowing but, yeah, Utah has a huge and vibrant hockey crowd (hence my comment on the expansion video on why smart money is on SLC for the Coyotes or the next expansion round). Nah, there were about even fans between the Kings and the Sharks, I was there and it seemed to be pretty even.
One thing you couldn't miss if you were there, though, was that pretty much every team in the league was represented in some form or another by the fans in attendance (including me and one other bloke wearing Canucks jerseys).

  15. Awesome game! Most seats were filled, the only empty's I saw were seats that weren't listed. Awesome as a Utahn to not have to drive 8 hours to see an NHL game, even if it's pre season. It was so awesome . This was my second NHL game, (saw the Stars at Vegas last year) and this was awesome. Lots of Jerseys from tons of teams. Hopefully it shows the NHL that they have fans in Utah! We aren't huge fans of either team , but we are hockey fans first ( me and my wife both wore our Bruins Jerseys) Thanks for the recap Shannon!
