Sidney Crosby at 36 is still the top center in Pittsburgh. Sean Monahan is only 28. I'd keep him around instead of trading him away.
Gallagher, is like a 6.5 million dollar piece of gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe.
Their line will be severely limited if Nick and Cole have to work the corners.They will be 100% a perimeter line and that is not good.IMo Nick has to play center and they need a bigger winger.
The third player should be determined by pre season NOT prior.Monahan for example started very slow he needed a couple weeks to get his legs.
Tony remains on th emindset that we need to put players in a better position to raise their value but OTHER managers are not stupid they already know MOST MTL players are not that good they are MINUS players third line players.Calgary made a HUGE mistake over paying Kadri who played way over his head thanks to the top line ice time but was typically a career 50 pt player.However msot managers are not that dumb and would have seen Kadri as a 50 pt player and nothing more.
If I had an EARLY plan mine would be to test josh Roy with Cole and Nick and IDC about pure positions I actually get angry when I hear people say a player MUST play a certain side of the ice.Getting a very good look at Newhook in the Sisu I didn't like ANY of his game.A 3 on 3 game really shows the individual skills and how they think.
RHP has more game than Newhook smarter and a better eye around the net.Slafkovsky has no hockey IQ so age doesn''t matter it is VERY unlikely that he will ever GET IT.
RHP was a plus 7 the ONLY forward with a plus was it lucky well with so many blaming injuries as an excuse RHP didn't seem to care about in juries.
I’d try Slaf on the first line to start.

If Montreal sees Dach's futur as a center, they will have to mostly use him as a center since he will be starting his 5th NHL season. As last season, Monahan could be a good fit with Caufield and Suzuki for the time being since Montreal likely drafted Slaf first overall to be a top line winger !!!

Monahan is underrated, if healthy he can be a stud
