In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals victory over the Red Wings in the second preseason game. Ovechkin, Backstrom and Miroshnichenko skated a line together and didn’t disappoint. Miroshnichenko had three shots and a team-leading three hits in addition to his two assists. Backstrom scored and won 8 of 9 draws. “I’ve been really impressed with the way he’s looked,” Carbery said. “It’s just a perfect storm of him having a full summer to rehab. …He’s been great.” Added Wilson: “Nicky looked amazing. He looked like himself from 10 years ago.” Rasmus Sandin led the Caps in ice time and was effective on both ends of the ice

It wad really great too see these players on the ice. I thought the young guys played well and will learn from they didn’t do well. Ivan surprised me a bit with his willingness to throw some checks. But overall I like what the team did and excited for the season
It seriously sounds like you're describing Ovy light when speaking of Miro
All the questions still remain with Backstrom. If they played one game a week for six months and the playoffs were best of 3 I would be a lot more confident in him not breaking down. Obviously a successful surgery, but will it hold up? If he has a great season I will be the first to admit he really proved me wrong. Til then I am a skeptic. Would be really cool if he is great and ends the season healthy ready for 82 games next season.
