  1. As a Vegas fan, I love the thought of reactions like yours from other fanbases. And it’s not like our 1st round draft picks ever actually end up playing much for the Golden Knights anyways. Concentrating the future salary cap in even fewer players than it already is is concerning, not going to lie, but the results of recent years show that it can work (and without mortgaging too much of the future as well – VGK’s list of future draft picks are surprisingly intact, and the team has majorly benefitted from their farm team players when those players have been needed). As long as scouting keeps finding diamonds in the rough, like Stephenson was after being picked up from the Caps for a 5th round pick, then moves like this can keep being seriously discussed. At this point, though, I will give McPhee and McCrimmon the benefit of the doubt whether or not they do this particular trade.

  2. the uneven playing field of the nhl strikes again. they have to have a sliding cap ceiling for states that don't tax their athletes. not a coincidence that all the states that don't tax their athletes make the playoffs every year. americans always figure out a way to get the advantage through money.

  3. This will never happen. Steven Stamkos is the most popular sports athlete in Tampa Bay history. The person who trades Stamkos will be vilified. Tampa Bay may allow Stamkos to become a free agent. But will never trade him.

  4. Stamkos is NOT happening. Adding an aging forward to tne Knights doesn't make sense. Now Pettersson or Nylander, I could see Kelly McCrimmon going after one of them.
