According to twitter trading away a 5th round pick is the same as trading away a first overall pick.

Lot of people say it's only a 5th it doesn't matter and fair enough on the surface but when you are a team who does this multiple times a year those pieces do add up. Don't mind Lafferty to help win now and help the pk but it still limits our future assets to be a serious contender consistently

He's from Pennsylvania and I like saying Pennsylvania so there's that.
He got pushed out mostly because of leafs' cap issue. I am sure they want to keep him otherwise.

5th rounders never make it. Look at Podz, top 10 pick 4 years ago can’t make it. Juolevi. These guys all top 10 can’t make it. How is a random 5 rounder gunna make it lol? People overvalue 5th rounders and underestimate how hard it really is to actually make the NHL. This move makes the team better NOW. Great pickup!
