  1. This is great for the jets so I’m happy. I see people complaining that the deals are to long but I disagree.

  2. Flat cap era is over. 8.5 million is not even close to the same number that it was when Wheeler signed half a decade ago. The cap going up next season almost pays for these contracts already and it’s supposed to rise significantly more in the years to come.

  3. These are great contracts. This is a win-win for the team and these players. They are both core guys who have given 100% year after year. Sure. In 2028, they may need to be bought out. I'm fine with that. Both of these guys have been underpaid for years.

  4. look at it this way, the cap is going up and these are WAY FUCKING better than some of the sick shit that's going around the league right now. this is nifty for chevy. plus it's hard to find lifetime jets, no one wants to live in winnipeg

  5. Jets needed these guys and neither is holding anyone back, like on defense. Cap has plenty of room, these are good extensions.

  6. I think this will definitely make for some stability going forward. Hopefully it translates to the ice.

  7. Good players who take care of their body are still very effective at the later stages of their careers. Imo, these are great contracts, especially with the cap going up. If they gotta buyout the last year or 2 of the contracts so be it. 6-7 years down the road the team could be in rebuild mode anyways. Cross that road when we get there. For now, in "Win-Now" mode these are solid, team friendly contracts that allow the Jets cap room to add some key pieces to the roster.

  8. Don’t think nothing of these signings. Both can now be traded at any point. I doubt these two are with the Jets in the future.
