I love advance stats like these. Would love to be a part of one some day.

This might just be some underpaid intern, but you can go fuck yourself u/nhl. Tell your bosses they’re a bunch of cowardly sacks of shit.
biglacunaire
And that’s only Sutter making the team do bagskates.

Consider Florida had a 5OT, I’m surprised they didn’t win that third one by several miles
JRL222
Colorado leading in both 22+ MPH and 20+ MPH sprints is interesting.
Consistent-Study-287
Do these ever get posted in kilometers instead of miles?
NightKnight87
What the fuck is a mile?
itoadaso1
Yeah no surprise the Flames are at the top here after playing in 24 overtimes, most in the league.
KingDave46
I’d like to see what specific periods / games those record distances were
Montreal is top for biggest distance period but not on the full game one at all.
Were they buzzing about scoring 5 or getting slaughtered just running around chasing ghosts?
Chewie_i
Really interesting to me the a 10mph increase in shot speed takes it from the top number being 12 to 210. Same with the massive jump from 22 mph sprints to 20.
illaqueable
Interesting that they’re all so close… maybe rhe variation as you go down the list is more significant, but I’ll bet especially the total distance stats are very similar across all 32 teams
happigofucky
Not seeing the Canucks on any of the lists makes total sense because we mostly just float around on the ice with quick little speed Bursts when a player has the puck and thinks they might be able to pad their stats.
We don’t believe in the value of a forecheck, it’s way smarter to just wait for the puck to land on ur stick

To explain the Jackets: when you shoot it as hard as possible and miss the net you need to skate back to your own end very quickly.
RudyRusso
Yeah Joe “Cinderblocks” Pavalski is a weird choice when Roope is on the same line.
Actually that line is so imbalanced with Hintz who skates like the devil and two guys who are below average skaters. But perfectly balances out the line.
betked4844
Miles skated gotta be the dumbest stat, think it’s tied with sportsnet’s day on earth or whatever it was. I’m going to block the user, tone deaf moronic league. You goona ban pride flairs in this subreddit too?
what_is_this_life
It’d be really interesting to see the winning percentage for teams that skated more distance than their opponent. I’d bet on the winning team skating less, as once you have a lead, you can sit back a little more and wait for your opportunities to score. In tie game scenarios, however, I’d like to know if skating more leads to a higher chance of winning
AustonDadthews
you could have told me any 10 teams lead the league in distance skated and I would have believed you.

We are faster than I thought
Zestyclose-Cricket82
Surprised McDavid alone didn’t get the oilers up there lol
IOGradThrowaway
This is why I don’t buy the “Pens old” narrative.
Team objectively still has its legs.
GrassyKnoll95
Calgary doing a lot of busy nothing
Mephisto1822
I think Ryan Pulock took all those 100+ MPH shots for the Islanders…
Bluetomorrow83
Not surprised by Flames and Stars leading skating the distance since it felt like they went into OT like every other game.
capsrock02
This might be one of the stupidest stats I’ve seen the league put out
SiidChawsby
Pretty sure 9/10 100mph shots for the Sabres came from Tage
Smirnoffico
So Habs skate more than any team in the league in a period and that game doesn’t even crack top-10 over three periods. Pretty much describes last season for Canadiens
FriendlySlytherin
Pretty sure all the 100+ mph shots for the islanders last season were taken by Pulock, which means he had more 100+ mph shots than any other team.
BellsBeerBestBeer
Wings shooting really really hard but away from the net and into the goalie’s chest
The-Reddit-Giraffe
The fact we skated the most is kind of funny but also makes sense. With Sutter wee break out and then dump and chase every time
Dyne_Inferno
Ya, Washington being anywhere near the top for 22+mph skating bursts.
That one shocked me.
BosLahodo
Interesting that the Bruins aren’t anywhere on here and they had the greatest *regular* season ever.
Emi_Ibarazakiii
Something doesn’t add up…
The Flames haven’t skated more than 10.85 miles in a period (as they’re not on the top list).
We don’t know much how their record was, but it’s 10.85 or less.
Well, even if it was *exactly* 10.85, and they skated that much for EVERY SINGLE PERIOD, to get to 3846.4 miles in the year they would need to have played 354.5 periods, which means 4.32 periods per game on average, which obviously is impossible.
