I think this is going to become more prevalent. Teams saw Florida and Vegas weather injuries and slumps with 3 competent goaltenders and realized the days of a starter + warm body backup + AHL beer leaguer is not cutting anymore.

a little worried that this is like the if you have 2 starting qbs, you have 0 starting qbs…if we have 2 backup goalies, we don’t have 1?

The past two seasons saw Ned get burnt out and get lost in his own head and Husso get burnt out and keep going.

Having three goalies will help that. If Husso starts wearing down he can taken off the bench for a few and have Reimer and Lyon cover for him. Whoever is the hotter hand between them.
