  1. As a Ranger fan, I hope that we re-sign him. We’re not doing well in the preseason. After all, we should’ve gotten him and Tarasenko both in February of 2021, instead of this past February. Then, maybe, we would’ve gone to the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, especially if the Atlanta Thrashers had stuck around (which would’ve prevented a playoff realignment and given us a division crown, instead of Carolina and made us play Toronto in the 2nd round, instead of Carolina and Toronto would’ve been a much easier opponent than Carolina, which means that we sweep that 2nd round series, instead of being pushed to a game 7 and then we would’ve used that lengthy layoff to beat Tampa Bay in 7 games and then we would’ve gone to game 7 against Colorado, before finally falling and then we would’ve had a much healthier and better team last year with Zibanejad as our captain, instead of Trouba and we would’ve made it back to the Final and possibly won it).

  2. Backstrom's performance so far this preseason and how he's looked has to change the views on Kane. The question is would it also take Kane a year (if it ever happened) to get back to himself? But if he can get there, he will at that point be a star again. Which after Backstrom last year no one thought was possible. A 95% or better Kane even at 35 or 36 is one of the best offensive players in the world.
