The Detroit Red Wings have still been having great games from Troy Stecher, a former Vancouver Canucks defenceman whose treatment from the organization I’m still totally not bitter about. Last night against the Chicago Blackhawks we saw two goals come from the Richmondite, and I wanted to use this time to discuss not only his recent stretch of play with Detroit, but also how it compares with some of the Canucks play thus far.

  1. I think we should protect Stecher in the expansion draft, especially over someone like Danny Dekyser, aka, DDK

  2. I've loved watching Stecher play. The Yzerplan is a joy to witness.

  3. Just a friendly reminder to Canucks fans, stecher is awesome, and we love him in the winged wheel!!!!
All kidding aside, LGRW, team is playing well, kids are growing and showing improvement, Veleno probably getting a look soon, lots of positives. 11 games left and still lots to play for, continued growth from the kids, vrana meshing with the team, and maybe a few more W's build more confidence going into next season.

  4. DDK has looked improved this year. Back surgery is obviously a difficult thing to come back from so I'm glad to see him playing well.

  5. Troy Stecher was a steal for the Wings, plays well with Staal.
Think it's awesome that you have Sid Abel on your team, miss the way he always pronounced Cal-Gary as if it was two words. The man was great.

  6. Best offensive play of Dekeysers life lmao and Stetcher with the short side tuck! What a beauty!

  7. "Danny De Keyser, great pass to Stetcher…. GOAL RED WINGS….read it and weep Canucks". In all seriousness, how the hell did Vancouver let Stetcher go for nothing??? Really bad roster management, and we thought Kenny messed things up in Detroit…. Hopefully Stetcher should be protected but that doesn't mean that he's not on the trade block next season. I think he's a valuable asset that could/should fetch a decent return from a contender. If that doesn't materialize then I'd be very happy to see him stay. Rest assured, he won't leave Detroit for nothing……

  8. Losing Stecher was the Jim Benning mistake (goodness knows there are lots of them) that made me the saddest. He was from BC, he gave it everything he had in every shift, I loved his work ethic, and he was a good player. He was such an unnecessary loss. We could have kept him. Any GM with a brain would have kept him.

  9. I’m hoping Stecher stays awhile.
    A long while.
He’s the kind of guy that will be great when he’s 40

  10. Troy is driven, literally, he drove from Vancouver to Detroit when he signed as a UFA.
Doing things the old fashion and traditional way.

  11. As far as Danny Dekyser goes, I like that he's a hometown guy that got a chance to play for his favorite team growing up. I think he may be winding down in his tenure, and will be quite quickly replaced in his current role by probably Seider. Stetcher has been a nice surprise signing and could very well fit into long term plans. I didn't know what to expect going into the season with Stetcher, but it's been all good from what I'm seeing.
