* Both teams had only three 20+ goal scorers (vegas had 0 30+ goal scorers)
* Both teams only had one player with PPG stats.
* Vegas had seven players with 40+ points, Red Wings had six
* Two D men breached 40 points on Vegas, Red Wings had two as well (I am counting Hronek)
But this is where we can see the lack of Depth that Red Wings have which I think Yezrplan is trying to address so badly.
* Vegas had **twelve** 10+ goal scorers on the team, Red Wings had 7
* They had a D go over 50 points on Vegas, Red Wing’s highest D had 42 points
* Red Wings gave up 279 GA, Vegas only gave up 229 GA
* Vegas had five different goalies start for them and all but Quick had above 915 SAV%, Red Wings goalies (three of them) were all under 900
It seems you do not need five point-per-game players to win a cup, but you have to have incredible depth.

Vegas has 3 goalies above a 915? That is actually super impressive and moderately depressing when you look at the Wings haha.
TLDR Vegas is good, Wings were bad.
Vegas, Blues, and the Kings teams from about a decade ago all played amazing, responsible defense while being deep on forwards. They all lacked the ppg star that many people think is needed to win a cup. Some people think your 2C needs to be ppg also.
To me, this is another point about what is promising with the Yzerplan. The team hasn’t gotten lucky with draft and we can’t tank forever, so Stevie is trying to build a contending team another way. He is accumulating draft picks/players with the plan of having depth everywhere. All of the recent FA signings have either been really short term, or a reasonable signing for a very in-demand position (1C-3C is locked up thru 26-27 season).
