For the first game of 2023/2024 – what a thriller, i might need to take a nap now. Lots of positives and negatives on both teams, for my Habs – special teams still need so, so much work… but lots of positives with Newhook, Slaf, Guhle to name a few.
I will say our old man line of Monahan / Pearson / Gallagher did not look really good – fine 5 on 5, but Monahan failing that clear that led to the 5-5 tie…. brutal.

Both these teams have lousy defense. & average goaltending . They both play wide open. Far too many turnovers. Leafs are going to allow many goals this year . They didnt address their defense problem. Montreal will improve slightly from last year but are still not playoff bound.

The Leafs are terrible in their own end. This is what killed them in the playoffs last year. They need to do some defense drills and learn how to effectively dump the puck out.
