NHL fans need to accept the TRUTH about Bedard

Last night in the NHL season open, we saw Connor Bedard make his big league debut! Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the insane hype around Bedard leading up to the new NHL season – deservingly so. This kid is special..and the NHL is making sure you know about it!

They must have mentioned or shown Bedard 100 times during the season opening Tampa Nashville game alone. So with all the promo, the story line around playing his childhood hero Sidney Crosby the cameras couldn’t keep away from him. But, we are 1 game into the Season and I already seeing so much complaining about it – people have gotten sick of it quickly. So many complaints about it being a gimmick, that he’s overrated, he’s not ready for the NHL but most of all, that they’re so tired of hearing this kids name.

Now, this is just the beginning and so I have a feeling that were gonna be hearing from these fans all season long but for me personally, I’m growing tired of them. I’ll cover his first assist of his career and much more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. It's great to be back! YouTube can be a grind and with my regular job and everyday life outside of YT, it can all be a bit much so it was good to take a break but I'm very excited to kick off this new NHL season. Thanks for watching!!

  2. When Benson wins rookie of the year they will realize they were talking about the wrong player.

  3. I find all the marketing is from hockey sources. I’m not hearing about him from tsn. I’m only reading all about him on nhl news sources

  4. YOUTUBERS need to stop jumping on the media CLICK JOURNALISM BULSSHIT WAGON and stop doing ZERO CONTENT VIDEOS with CLICKBAITS

  5. Generational talent playing in a huge sports market who don’t have another star rn gonna have to get used to hearing about him

  6. Anyone that has watch enough hockey knows this kid has something special. Will he be the next Crosby? Maybe not, but he certainly passes the eye test. I can also see why people are already getting sick of it, but honestly this is a great thing for the NHL. Which has historically done a horrible job of marketing their top assets. Look McDavid, he the best player in the NHL and easily one of the most talented athletes in the world. Yet, anyone that doesn't watch hockey will be clueless who he is. Where guys like Kris Bryant, Bryce Harper, Pat Mahomes, Justin Jefferson, Roy Mcllroy, Anthony Davis, and Steph Curry are all household names regardless if you watch their sport or not.

  7. Him going to Chicago might end up hurting his career. Crosby had Lemieux along with Malkin Letang and Fleury growing with him. Hopefully Chicago can do the same around Bedard otherwise he might as well be on Arizona for the past decade. Korchinski looks promising but I also thought Nazar was a steal and he hasn’t been projecting that well so 🤷‍♂️ we’ll see. If Chicago gets another top 5 pick this year they might be able to pull off another Kane/Toews duo

  8. Personally I get sick of the press constantly talking about idiotic NBA players doing stupid things like bringing a gun to a friend who ends up killing a girl with it! I much prefer to hear and see Connor Bedard incredible plays instead! I say bring it on, show me more Connor Bedard related things. I think it’s great!

  9. I think there's a difference between marketing a guy and shoveling him down our throats but what do I know, and I do think the kid is special so I understand but it is getting a bit annoying

  10. It's because the NHL is desperate to appeal to not just the American audience, but Gen Alpha as well, which may not actually be as invested in hockey as previous generations for largely cultural reasons (ie, e-sports, not interested in watching sport sports). Connor Bedard may be exactly who they need to break the cycle.

  11. LOL at how the NHL is cheap and inept that nowadays that they don't have one player thats known outside the hockey world.

  12. Well as a NFL fan I’m sick of seeing Taylor Swift… so I guess we’re even💀

  13. I don’t mind the build up for the guy but there’s so much more to hockey than 1 or 2 guys. The NHL has tried to market the game as like a bunch of women skating around looking sweet and charming. What drew me to hockey was the toughness, tough line mates teamed up with the big stars is part of the game and the “woke” NHL wants to take some of the rough stuff out of the game.

  14. For so many people being sick of the hype, it sure didn't stop them from setting a ratings record. The CHI-PIT game gave ESPN highest ratings ever for a regular season game ever. Glad to know I'm not the only one who's tired of the complainers. Nobody's forcing anyone to watch him.

  15. Hey, it made me watch hockey again. I don't think I've ever given attention to the NHL like I have now. There's a ton of fun talent nowadays, and I'm happy for him. I hope he quiets the haters!

  16. I believe there is a difference between what is happening and marketing like you claimed it was. It feels more like its being forced upon rather then informing or highlighting. Showing a player in the next match is one thing doing it 20x times and only one player is ridiculous. The NHL does this and its not even a Bedard thing either. Mcdavid is probably the next worse if not worse abuse of it. However its been done on Eichel and Matthews to and all those times it comes off as forced.

Play by play is also guilty of this as they will rehash the same story for the entire game. Rather then sharing ones about other players or coaches. That is the difference between the NFL and NBA sometimes does the too much promotion to but not at that level. Neither are anywhere close to doing it as badly as the NHL.

  17. The super hype should die down by November 1st. He just needs to settle in and then he won't be making a headline every night unless he really merits one on the ice. It's the same as a movie trailer. Once it has been in theatres for a little bit, it all settles down, and then the movie has to stand on its own two feet to be worth anything.

  18. Definitely not sick of hearing about the kid. I don't think people realize what they're watching. He's different! He's not going to have an incredible season but that's because the roster is awful but he's special and we'll see that in years to come. I know a ton of non hockey fans that started watching hockey this year because they heard about a phenom coming up. It's simply good for the sport!

  19. I've never once complained about growing the game and I am already fucking sick of hearing about Bedard. Yes he's going to be good yes people have a reason to be excited but holy shit guys. Every article and video doesn't need to be about him, let's hear about other players too. There are other marketable names on franchises that weren't gifted a generational talent after being caught about covering up rape (Yeah I'm gonna bring that up, sue me). Where's the hype for young guys like Owen Power, Logan Cooley, Matty Beniers etc?

  20. The thinh with them not marketing their players is that they're still not marketing the players, they're just marketing Bedard

  21. Bedard is potentially a generational talent that actually has a marketable personality and plays in a major US market. The NHL HAS to lean in. That’s exactly how you draw interest, especially in the US. Look at the NFL and NBA.
