Better thing is, the Canadians are giving second chances, this normaly creates loyalty. They might be willing to help the team when they will have to negociate again.
Pinard should be at Pearson's spot, on the third line. That 3rd line would also be insane.
I literally said the second the trade happened that he'd be a beast! Alot of people assume for some reason that young players if they don't do good right away that they suck lol you can tell he has alot of skills and speed! It was a late 1st and a 2nd that won't guarantee a good player.. newhook is way more guaranteed! He's an amazing player
The Newhook-Dach-Slaf line is essentially a first line. Opposing teams' second line will have a hard time containing them.
Im a Habs fan but I also watched the Avs game and Ross Colton looked great on the third line and he was used in every situation immediately gave the Avs the depth that Newhook couldnt provide. Newhook is better seated in the top 6 with more talent to get him the puck but Ross is better in the bottom 6 as a responsible and gritty center. Both teams got what they wanted as the Avs used the 2nd. rounder in Newhook trade for Ross Colton. I still think Hughes overpaid with a 1st and 2nd but you should 'overpay' for high end talent. Newhook has a lot of promise but its just one game.
as an avs fan, very glad newy is getting a good chance to find his game with the habs. I was really hoping he could break through with the avs, but we were probably pushing him too hard and not giving him good chances since the avs are constantly trying to win. he didnt have any room for errors. glad the trade worked out for both teams, newy getting a new look and avs able to get colton who looks great at a 3c.
As an Avs fan I’m kinda pissed we didn’t give him a top 6 role but looks like this trade will work out for both teams
