Rapids Plays Great Game against Andover-Wins 9 to 0
With scoring from 11 players, the Grand Rapids boys hockey team cruised past Andover, 9-0, Saturday at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids.
Alex Adams had the hat trick, while Blake McLaughlin, Jonah Bischoff and Mitchell Mattson each recorded four points. Gabe Holum had the shut out in goal with 10 saves for the Thunderhawks.
Grand Rapids improved to 10-5-1 on the season and 4-1 in Section 7AA.
Adams started a barrage of scoring for the Thunderhawks in the first period with a goal three minutes in. Hunter Huson then scored at 4:32, followed by goals from Adams (5:54) and Mattson (6:26). In the period, the Thunderhawks outshot the Huskies, 13-2.
The offense continued in the second period where Grand Rapids put 15 shots on goal. Bischoff scored at 10:54 and McLaughlin got on the board at 13:02.
In the third period, Adams scored his third goal midway through the period. Gunnar Harris scored at 11:35, followed by Bischoff’s second of the game at 14:49.
Grand Rapids faced another section opponent on the road at Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Tuesday. They are at unbeaten Hibbing/Chis- holm (13-0) Thursday.
