  1. It can’t be a proper leafs season without the over reaction of every leafs fan

  2. One garbage song for another …play something that wakes up that crowd or lower ticket prices and let some hockey fans in the building

  3. Maybe the best overreaction to the Leafs‘ last game is that the sky is falling. The Leafs did not get smoked by the Habs unlike the Oilers (8–1) by the Canucks (in fact the Leafs beat the Habs 6-5 in a shootout).

What are sensible reactions to the Habs-Leafs’ midweek game? For starters the Leafs, for the fourth straight game going back to last week, allowed at least three goals. I see nothing wrong with winning games 3-1 or 3–0 as much as the Leafs‘ blueline leaves so much to be desired.

Secondly, goaltending was a serious concern for at least the third straight game, with Samsonov and Woll each having allowed multiple ugly goals. I would like to believe that the Samsonov-Woll tandem that had worked reasonably well last regular season will shine again, but I have my doubts. It’s a good thing Treliving last off-season picked up Martin Jones, that Jones is with the Marlies and that the Leafs, even if they make no roster moves other than recalling Jones, have the cap space to do so should they choose to do so (with US$923,333 of cap space and his cap hit at US$875,000 the highest among goalies under contract to the Leafs with sub-US$1-million per-season cap hits).

Lastly the Leafs, outside of fighting majors, were shorthanded 4 times, allowing 1 goal under such circumstances. The penalties that Jarnkrok and Knies respectively took with 15:02 and 1:47 left in the 1st period and OT didn’t result in goals against but were still momentum killers. The Oilers against the Canucks were, in that 8–1 loss, shorthanded 6 times, allowing 3 goals under such circumstances. The 3rd period of that game out west resulted in 3 penalties called against Oiler players to just 1 against a member of the Canucks‘ roster. Yet even before the Canucks or Oilers had scored a goal other than an even-strength one, the Canucks had already taken a commanding lead at 3–0. @ 4-0 Canucks, on a goal by Brock Boeser from Elias Pettersson and Andrei Kuzmenko, I figured that for the Oilers that game had become a write-off. hopefully the Leafs won’t just barely beat the Minnesota wild, but beat them convincingly. Although that is easier said than done, also easier said than done is the ability to defend. Beliefs, like the others, are vulnerable due to a crappy blueline and inconsistent goaltending. Kyle Dubas, when GM of the Leafs, thankfully turned down a proposal put forward by Jack Campbell to sign that goalie for a substantially higher per-season cap hit (PSCH) than the US$1.65 million to which the Kings had in September 2019 signed him, with that contract to go into effect during the 2020-21 season. Samsonov’s US$1.8 million PSCH, effective for last season only, was just US$150,000 more than that. Wish the leafs had agreed to assume of Jack Campbell. That Samsonov’s current PSCH is US$3.55 million means the Leafs have under US$1 million of cap space. While Campbell’s contract expires in June 2027, that of Samsonov expires next June, a good thing for the Leafs because if the latter goalie continues too often being a sieve, the Leafs can just let him walk into unrestricted free agency.

  4. Good Video Clicked Like . Sammy did not look good in nets but not going to throw him under the bus yet because I think he only had 1 or 2 starts in training camp . How much of it had to do with the D core being really bad . I am starting to think MLSE is just trolling the fan base with their goal song selections now . I want to say something positive so at least it is not Hall and Oates other than that NO COMMENT . Happy the Leafs got the win GO LEAFS GO .

  5. It shouldn't have GONE in, not WENT in. Why does everyone make that mistake these days?
