Tarasenko just signed with OTTAWA…?

Vladimir Tarasenko just signed with the Ottawa Senators in a move that honestly surprised me. We’ll talk that and more on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Doesn't make sense. I guess this is just the set up for a big contract like you mentioned. Could have really helped a contender though.

  2. Real fucking shame that Chris Dreary couldn’t get it done and resign V. T. Imagine paying Trouba and Trocheck over 8-&-5 million respectively, but you can’t resign a proven winner.

  3. Guy turns himself into a star, spends nearly his whole career with 1 team, team misses playoffs, gets traded to a favorite at the deadline, and then signs with Ottawa.

God damnit Claude, what did you do?

  4. As I understand next year the salary cap goes up so maybe Tarasenko hopes to get a better-paid contract due to the higher cap.

  5. He's starting to be done. He just wants to play and crossing that decline chart he now start to settle for who ever will let him play. Yes he's not that old but his game as been very lacking from
his hot days in the Blues. I'm betting after this season with Sens he will have even harder time to play in the NHL if he even finish the season with Sens.

  6. i love it. i'm excited for ottawa. they were entertaining down the stretch.

  7. There wasn't a market for him. No team wanted to give him term and money.

Even if he performs well, teams won't give term because he will be 32.

Maybe he gets 3 years, possibly 4 to lower the AAV. But he's not getting a 5+ year deal after this one.

  8. So Ottawa basically traded DeBrincat for Kubalik, Tarasenko, Sebrango (a pretty interesting prospect) and a 1st Rounder… pretty nice… pretty nice.

  9. L for Vlad. Wanted to play on a cup contender and is on a fringe playoff team instead. The Canes would’ve moved Teravainen to sign him for the same amount. His choice tho, if he’s gonna be a dollar sign chasing diva I guess we don’t need him

  10. Sens are pretty stacked if they can stay healthy. Don't have to run chabot for so many minutes anymore either. If they put some chemistry together they are going to be very difficult for any team to beat. If they keep this core going forward and they're all buying into the system, they're going to be very dominant. They also have a few guys under the radar right now who could potentially be very very good.

  11. I really hope the sens can get competitive so I can finally give up on the leafs and jump teams

  12. So the Ranger "rebuild" is officially run its course and now they "rebuild" again? 🤦‍♂️

  13. ottawa originally offered 5.5×4 to Tarasenko, sharks offered a 6×1 and canes offered 5.25×1

  14. Sens fans need some good news once in a while. Hope he helps them get back in the postseason, even if he's not with them in the postseason.

  15. Even as a Toronto fan I think ottawas line uo looks really fun rn. They can have a top 6 of Tkachuk, giroux, teresenko stutzle, Norris, batherson. In no particular order. And the left side on d is stacked enough to bring in a depth forward they'll probably need numbers wise or sign someone and make a a trade to upgrade the right side on d.

  16. This should not surprise you. Ottawa is a great place to revive your career! Look at guys like Kyle Turris, Matt Duchene, or even someone on the tail end stretching it out like Alex Kovalev.

And like you said, if Ottawa has problems they can dump him. The only problem will be if Tarasenko doesn't perform… but he will and Ottawa will win the cup by beating Toronto in the first round.

  17. So happy to not see this Vlady will resign to Rags bullshit. It was never on thr table. Not enough cap. That was just the reality.

  18. Ottawa lost debrincat and Talbot and gained kubalik tarasenko and korpisalo. Considering how Debtincat had quite the down year last year for his standards, i'd say they are significantly better than last year
