Having watched Debrincat for 70+ games he was the 4th or 5th best forward on Ottawa. Detroit is doing what Ottawa did last year when we got him. Picturing an elite sniper but he doesn't drive play, win puck battles enough or defend very well. How much of his 40 goal seasons were because of Patrick Kane…
LOL Max nailed it, I was almost 13 when the Wings won the Cup in '97… prob obvious to say, but I'm a pretty rabid fan haha
I mean I'm biased, but while this does close the gap between Ottawa and Detroit, I definitely don't think it leapfrogs them over the Sens. Especially since Norris should be back healthy, and the Sens are going to have a full year with that new D corps. I'm also someone who's pretty big on Korpisalo.
I think we finally have a rivalry! Ottawa/ Detroit is going to have a lot of bad blood. Wings better get ready for it or they will be brutalized.
It's only a win for Detroit if the Cat gets 40 at least twice in the next 4 years, and has an impact in the playoffs. Kubalik has 7 fewer goals than the Cat this past year, the Cat gets paid over 3X more. The Sens can now get another player like Tarasenko to add to their lineup. Anyways, the Cat wanted out, so he forced Ottawa's hand and Dorion could only do so much.
I think this guy's out to lunch thinking Detroit is in a better spot than Ottawa, but we'll see I guess.
The gist is the talent level is different from top 10 picks from down into the late teens.
Player development only goes so far if the talent isn't there to begin with.
I just don't see any scenarios where Detroit is ahead of Ottawa, what about their lineup makes you think that? Ottawa crushed them in almost every game last year and they got even better in the offseason DeBrincat aside.
Lot of salty sens fans in the comments! Wings sold at last year’s deadline while you all bought and only finished 6 pts ahead of us. I don’t think one team is especially better than the other. Maybe a slight edge to Sens if Norris is 100%, but think it comes down to April either way
Alex is from Detroit he wanted to play in his home town.
Keep in mind next year I think the Redwings still have 9 picks Stevie hoards them and this cost them very little.
Wings won the deal…and across the nhl media that is the view. Dorian lost last summer bringing Cat in.
💫Sens fans be like:..
"You stole my happy, you made me cry
Took the lonely, and took me for a ride
And I wanna un-un-un-un-un-undo it
You had my heart, now I want it back
I'm starting to see everything you lack
Boy, you blew it, you put me through it
I wanna un-un-un-un-un-undo it
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na" 👋🤦😂
The guy in the middle is on crack🤣🤣🤣 nobody is going to take you seriously saying Detroit is ahead of Ottawa in any category, lmao
Here's the analogy I've used as copium. Imagine you're in a race against 30 other people and Usain Bolt..no one is wants to leave the starting line except you and Usain Bolt. No matter what, you lose, but you come in second. The sens hands were tied so don't act like this is some huge powerplay from the Wings org. Sens can work with this.
