GAME RECAP: Penguins at Capitals (10.13.23) | Crosby Nets 2 Power Play Goals



The Pittsburgh Penguins played their first away game of the season at the Washington Capitals Friday night. As the Penguins looked to bounce back, the first period remained fairly fast-paced and calm. The Penguins killed off a penalty and the period ended tied 0-0. After 4 minutes of the 2nd period had passed, Evgeni Malkin was able to open the scoring, giving the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Quickly after that, Pittsburgh went on the power play. Sidney Crosby was ready in the slot to put the loose puck in the back of the net. Crosby wasn’t finished yet. Halfway through the period, the Penguins got another power play chance and capitalized again. Crosby gave Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead to end the 2nd period. The 3rd period was once again a calm to start. Both teams killing off one penalty each. With under 5 minutes left in the game, Reilly Smith scored a 4th goal for the Penguins. The game ended in favor of the Penguins 4-0 and Tristan Jarry got his 14th career shutout.

  1. They looked good tonight. Defense was there, karlsson looking like he is adjusting slowly but surely. Jarry only had to make 18 saves. LGP!

  2. Choking to the Blackhawks in the opener at home sucked, but getting to smoke the Caps on their home ice makes it all better
