USA head coach John Tortorella addresses Phil Kessel’s Tweet, says “I really like Phil, but wish he didn’t say anything, because it just makes him look bad.”
USA Hockey is a joke. All USA Hockey cares about is the development team. They don’t care about all the kids playing in all the associations, men’s leagues, women’s leagues etc. All the money is funneled you 30 or so players. Their ADM is so stupid, emphasizing practice versus games? Really? They need a wholesale change of leadership- get rid of the entrenched nepotism that is so rampant.
Just stumbled on this, somehow. Torts saying he'll put up with the media all day long because it's part of his job… Ha! How many times has he yelled out media and walked out of a post-game conference? Not that I mind, but it's a tad ingenuous.

I read that Boston traded Phil because he heard about corners but never wanted to go in them.

I can't speak for any other tweets from former players, but Phil's was tongue-in-cheek humor. Blown way out of proportion.
Phil's failure with the Leafs had not been forgotten at the time. The only big mistake by USA hockey was having torts as coach.
