  1. I don't follow Junior or College Hockey but being 1st overall I thought even if he isn't "generational" he'd at worst be a solid top six…then watching him play regularly was stunned that there is literally nothing that stands out about his play nothing you can say he excels at that you would expect from a 1st rounder never mind a 1st overall.

  2. He's 21 so I'd hate to dish him out and have him bite us in the ass in a season or two , but watching Hughes hurts so much because Laf doesn't even look like he realizes that he's blowing it. Some people aren't made for NY sports.

  3. Since when do we care about preseason? If he still sucks a month into the season then we can have a serious discussion. Preseason games are shared practices.

  4. You are dead on right. He should have worked really hard in the offseason on skating and his overall speed and done drills with a personal trainer to be ready to showcase his skills and determination. This preseason it should have been evident that is what he did but what transpired was his lack of those things I just mentioned. His effort was not comparable to those players on the team like Vesey, Goodrow or Pitlick or Cuyille or Othmann. He absolutely had to come into this year with a determination to show the Rangers mgmt and fans he was ready. But he didn't.

  5. Trade him to some canadain team, The rangers ARE COMPLETE ASS with rookies. Look at kakko. Kid should come home to canada hes probably not interested in playing for the lame rangers

  6. The REAL problem is that the 2020 NHL Draft has proven to be one of the weakest drafts in many years and being the No. 1 pick in 2020 is not the same as it is in other drafts. The only 1st-rounder in the 2020 draft that is a star is Tim Stützle at No. 3. Lucas Raymond at No. 4 is solid but not as yet overwhelming.

  7. 1:18 mark. what happened was he was looking at the bench to get off and change. I know it was supposedly near the end of his shift, but He does that quite often. He is always looking to get off for a change. And for a young player, you would think, he wants to prove himself and wants his minutes. You would think he would ignore the bench and drive the coach crazy with trying to get him off the ice. But I've noticed he is quick to look to bench and doesn't hesitate to get off the ice. At first I thought he had discipline, but then I had seen a few times where he was looking at bench and gliding towards it to then realize they weren't changing and he had to get back into the play.

  8. Give Lafreniere time. Zibanejad didn't get a point this preseason. Panarin got 1 assist this preseason. The only reason people worry about Lafreniere and not Panarin or Zibanejad is because the latter 2 are veterans and the former is young and hasn't proven himself yet.

  9. What a shame number 1 pick in draft looks like a bust. He does nothing well. Kappo has talent and a gr8 attitude but hes a number 2 pick we needhim to step up. We need more speedand grit

  10. The Ottawa Senators by far won that draft, Stutzle and Sanderson are the top 2 players in the draft. Anyone who actually knows hockey knows I am not wrong. Plus Ridley Greig as a late 1st is a budding star. What a draft. 🏒🏒🇨🇦🇺🇸🏒🏒

  11. He'd hardly be a pioneer in losing interest in his hockey career. He'd be well-advised to see a shrink. His symptoms are pretty classic "too much too soon" without serious guidance. Some people are just not best left to their own devices. Four years ago, he was nervous but on top of the world. It seems the world is now interested in getting on top of him. Been there, done that and no one should be comfortable with him changing on his own.

  12. He's from where I'm from in Quebec and I heard from one of his friend that he indeed party's way too hard. Knew it when he was drafted, he has all the talent but not the will to be successfull

  13. Lafreniere is fine. It's not like our top forwards had a great pre-season either. If he was out partying all summer and not training, I don't think the Rangers would have offered him a deal. Also, who cares if he doesn't turn out to be a superstar… The Rangers have built a very good team centered around a good mix of young and veteran talents. We're so focused on how many points this guy gets that we're not even paying attention to the fact that our team is absolutely stacked.

  14. This is the worst take I ever heard. Jimmy Vesey is better than Laf? 😂 go check their point totals from the past three years.

I get he’s underperformed for a 1st overall, but he’s 20 goals in the bank with no pp time.

    Let’s chill out

  15. When he was drafted people thought he might be another Conner Macgregor. Couldn't be more wrong so far. Disappointing.
