2022 NHL CSS Midterm Rankings: Wright vs. Cooley, Nemec vs. Jiricek & More | THW Prospect Corner

The Hockey Writers’ prospects experts Matthew Zator, Peter Baracchini, and Greg Boysen get together to dive into NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings for the 2022 Draft as they discuss whether Shane Wright is still number one or if Logan Cooley has closed the gap, the battle between Simon Nemec and David Jiricek, Brad Lambert’s increased confidence from the WJC, and Cutter Gauthier and Adam Ingrim’s rise up the rankings.

Then, before revealing their Prospects of the Week, they also discuss players from the North American and European lists that were ranked too low and too high by NHL CSS.

  1. I just love how Greg mentions Yurov at every possible opportunity to "shit" on him hahaha

  2. Great conparables for Wright are Bergeron and Toews (with a better shot). Those are franchise players. I think he’ll score 30 every year, Bergeron and Toews didn’t do that.

  3. Has Jack Quinn ever been a prospect of the week for yall cause he certainly should be. Absolutely dominating the AHL

  4. Everyone seems to have a lot of excuses for Wright. Anyone else and there would be questions but not for Ontario's new golden boy.

  5. Wright is #1. He isnt flashy but he is smart. He makes everyone around him better and is a natural leader.

  6. Cooley in my opinion hasnt closed the gap at #1. But maybe on #2. Lambert, Kemmel and Savoie are all right there for 3,4,5. Not to mention Jiricek or Nemec)6,7). Slafkovsky, Yurov and Lekkerimaki would round out my top 10 at the moment

  7. You are underestimating his offensive potential as a 16 year old through much of the 19-20 season he scored an unreal amount of goals 39 in 58 games then came covid.
