  1. Funny to see the Oilers fans react to these games. So many areas to blame. Is it goaltending? Defese? Or Lack of offense? All three it seems like.

  2. The Canucks are better than what most percieve them to be. Last season was a total writeoff. AHL calibre goaltending, defense, coaching change, non existent PK, and distractions all season. Despite that they still managed to be a 500 team. Pettersson is just entering his prime. Kuz is the real deal. Boeser looks re-energized, Miller looks engaged, Hughes will continue to grow. I expect 20+ goals from Mikheyev. Hronek, Soucy, and Cole is a big improvement from last season. As is Suter, Blueger, and Lafferty in the bottom six. A full season of Demko will be huge. DeSmith is a legit backup who can steal games. Flip Garland for a young bottom pairing D with upside. Hogs and Podz will need to step up. Beauvillier needs to find consistency. Hirose will surprise in a bottom pairing role. Di Giuseppe will develop into Hansen 2.0

  3. Relax they beat the Oilers, possibly the worse defense and goalie in the league

  4. hey how about the NHL doesnt support Israeli crimes against humanity…That was absolutely discusting and a slap in the face. DONT INVOLVE SPORTS AND POLITICS.

  5. who would've thought the Canucks would survive a 3v5 vs McJesus and Co? I get that it wasnt a full length 3 on 5 but last year Oilers were getting a goal 100% on that. The penalties in the 3rd from Van had me nervous.

  6. A 2-0 start is nothing to write home about; in the early 2000’s there was a 2-0 start that was followed by an 8 game winless streak (I remember Cloutier getting scored on from the neutral zone on that run) so sample size is everything. But it’s hard not to be hopeful, because they’ve clearly been the better/more cohesive team the first two games. That team defence…

The trip through South Florida will tell a lot of the story on how the rest of the year goes. See how they do against real cup winners and finalists instead of the self-proclaimed ones.

  7. They played amazing in Game 1, but lets be honest. DeSmith and Stuart Skinner saved them in game 2.

  8. I’m so tired of only 2 Canadian teams making it every year so the fact that Vancouver is saying we can be one of those teams right now is awsome

  9. I think both Pettersson and the Canucks organization would lose out big if they were to part ways….

  10. as a life long canucks fan, this is relieving to see. I really hope they can keep it up, cause man I am desperate for a good season

  11. hang on hang on canucks got outshoot bad in gm 2 because of powerplays ? well edm play caused those pp but edm needs tighten up defencevly and anhiem or any goalie

  12. The best part of these two games is they aren't just relying on the usual EP40, Hughes & Miller crew. They are getting scoring from the bottom 6. Really curious to see how they look against the Flyers, in what should be another win for them.

  13. As a homegrown Islanders fan now living in BC, I'd 100% jump on the bandwagon if the Canucks make a run. My Oilers fan wife would hate it.

  14. As a nucks fan I want to believe. But I think so far it's more a case of Oilers being really, really bad, than Vancouver being good.

  15. Also worth noting they dont have Soucy, Bluger and Mikeheyeve. They have star power, depth, goaltending and a competent blue line. This team is scary. Biggest difference is how good they look in their own end, taking away passes and winning puck battles. Only 2 games but it looks night and day.

  16. Canucks and their fans deserve to have a great season, and it'd be cool if they make a cup run!

  17. Rick Tocchet has given the Canucks structure and given the players more fight.
The Canucks won't roll over anymore.

  18. in the first two games what was the 5 on 5 goal differential? something like 8 to 1? Edmonton needs to be better 5 on 5 if they are actually a cup fav, cant rely on the power play all the time, especially in the play offs. And only two games in and you could say that was a big important win for the Canucks. They wanted to get off to a great start after last year and everyone knew Oilers would be fired up after the first loss and this game being their home opener. Canucks need to back it up now on this difficult road trip.

  19. And the refs in that game were absolutely foul. They did everything they could to give McDavid his chance…
