* Well I gotta be realistic, this is probably the worst back to back in the Cooper era. 4 and 5 non-empty goals against is simply unacceptable. We need to shape up our defensive play big time.

The off season moves are really starting to hurt us now. No new players have even gotten a single point so far… Let that sink in

I think our defense needs to get used to the fact that they don’t have a top 3 goaltender who makes superhuman saves behind them anymore and stop trying to be cute. Just take care of the puck

Cooper: okay, we got a goalie making his NHL debut tonight. Let’s limit the shots against and keep the pucks in the offensive zone.
Team: does the complete opposite and allows their goalie to get peppered with shots like every other game this season.
We started like crap last season too so here is hoping we get our crap together sooner rather than later. So frustrating 😑
Can’t be good every year guys. It’s still very early. We are spoiled with how well we played the last few years. We played awful today.

Straight up booty in the first and we couldn’t recover, but at least we had a pulse the rest of the game. Not the time to worry yourselves just yet, we started worse last year, half our guys are new, and we have no consistent lines due to injuries. We’ll get it together in time.
This time last year our record was 1-2-0 with a 1-3 loss and 2-6 loss, there were posts in this sub about trading Kuch.
Plenty of tape, plenty to work on, but a lot of it is fixable.

Next two games are massive. Carolina and Toronto coming after. Absolutely need to bank some points against Buffalo and Vancouver

In JBB we trust, but I am having a really hard time remembering that— hoping that Sergachev is fine but wouldn’t be surprised if he were day to day. I know JBB probably couldn’t have predicted Vasy missing the first couple months of the season, but even so it feels like our defensive structure is a bit of a house of cards.

I liked Watson. Hagel looks like our best player. Gotta cut the bad turnovers in the defensive zone. I don’t understand why it’s so sloppy. It’s a long 82 game season and this team is capable of anything but our division has never looked so tough.

Perbix and Raddysh had a rough game. I thought the Cirelli line was playing pretty well tonight.
