More NOTD: Leivo Out 2-3 Months, Lias Andersson Requests a Trade

Well, another young player wants out after a slow start to their career. He joins Ho Sang, and Puljujarvi to name two who are also in flux.

  1. I'd like to know some takes on Chicago
    • listen to offers on the netminders
    • Seabrook situation
    • Stan Bowman's future

  2. I am not sure i agree completly that to be quiet and say nothing is a good ide. I think sometimes a player just cant fit in and are not happy where they are at so they hope that getting a fresh start somwhere else maybe will help them. You cant every time a player dare to say could you trade me interpet it as complaining. I think the clubs wants it to be looked at as that because that means they have not done anything wrong. Why then is there clubs who almost always makes players «blossom» and others have a lot of players unhappy and not living up to there potential???? A good example is Nichuschkin( sorry I am speiling his name wrong) not able to make it work with the Dallas Stars, but with the Colorado Avalanche he is doing just fine. I dont belive he reinvented himself I think Colorado as a club saw him differently built him up and treated him different and let him be what he can be and therefor he became a succsess. Yes of course a lot is in the players attitude and effort, but it had just as much to do with how the coaches and the club treat and try to develop players.

  3. Hockey players are the toughest athletes in the world!!! You can't demand ..if you can't preform!! Can't tell about the Leafs. Who cares about Hall!!

  4. I would rather have seen Andersson remain with the Rangers, rather than be demoted to Hartford, but, truth be told, the guy never earned 3rd-line minutes over players such as Howden, Lemieux, Fast & the traded Namestnikov. Instead of working on his game, he joins Robin Kovacs, Malte Stromwell, Michael Lindqvist & Ville Meskanen on an alarmingly long list of recent Rangers' Scandinavian flops.

  5. Andersson will probably end up in Ottawa where there's plenty of opportunity

  6. Aren't you jumping to conclusions with Andersson?
Although we might suspect the reason we actually don't know.

  7. Andersson didn’t get much of a chance, but the point of playing top line minutes in the minors is to prove you should be up playing those important minutes. He really hasn’t shown much yet in either league so far. I guess he’ll end up….in…..Van…..Tampa lol 😂

  8. Marner played on the fourth line during his first season and has developed quite well. Andersson has to suck it up or go to the SHL.

  9. I think Lias is being mentioned in connection with the Canucks because he played with EP40. The other team I can see him playing with (because he played with Nylander and Dahlin at the world juniors) is Buffalo. Hopefully the Rangers take a 7th round pick for him.

  10. I think Lias Andersson is a poor sport. Obviously because he threw his metal. That should have been the first sign of things to come. Uncoachable whiner. I dont think he goes anywhere, except back to Europe.

  11. He got second line minutes with us this season, his plus minus is equally bad at the NHL level. He doo doo.

  12. The Rangers completely screwed the pooch on this. You're supposed to bolster a young kid's confidence, not destroy it. It's the same thing that happened to Josh Ho-Sang. Andersson wasn't drafted to be a fourth liner and that's where the Rangers left him to rot. I don't blame him at all for getting pissed at seeing other young players do absolutely nothing and still getting more minutes than he is. He played well enough during the preseason to at least get an extended look at the start of the season (not on the fourth line) and he didn't even get that.

You look at Andersson and Kravtsov, neither of these kids were supposed to have character issues, and both got pissed at the way they were being treated. Maybe it's not just them then. Maybe the organization needs to look at their process.

  13. prime minutes? Lias Andersson is -9 with 14 games played and 5 points in the AHL. seems like hes getting some minutes to produce but he is unable to do anything. seems very entitled to demand a trade, my first impression after this story is that hes a problem

  14. Very sorry about the Canuks Player hope he’s makes a full recovery & sorry about that jerk VGK you know we’re not all like that

  15. If Griffin Reinhardt can be traded for Barzal & Bauvillier the rangers can get something good for Andersson

  16. Chytil and Howden just seem to fit the rangers system better and with Strome playing well, Andersson is the odd man out. I dont think he should of played on the fourth line, but its still a shame to see a young player give up on an organization so early in his career

  17. If you haven’t done anything you shouldn’t be allowed to request a trade. Anderson is cancelled. Go back to Sweden

  18. Lias Anderson is slow as hell, & he even worked tirelessly on his skating this past off-season. Kid has a very bad attitude, work ethic is so so, maybe a change of scenery will help him mature & develop, but i don't see it. I see him at best as a 4th line player, because he plays with a very slow pace. Such a waste of the #7 overall pick! SMH👎 #bust
