One good thing to take away from this is that Newhook and Anderson seemed to have some chemistry together. On the other hand, Slaf felt like a 3rd wheel on that line.

RHP is the new Byron. Plug-and-play anywhere in the lineup.
Anderson, Newhook and Slaf is a fast line.
Hear me out. Let’s stick to Duos. Ideally Slaf/Dach would be a duo but that’s not in the cards for the next little while.
1 – SZK+CC with RHP
2a – Andy+NewHook with Ylonen
2b – Mony+Slaf with Pearson
The priorities for this season ought to be Dach/Slaf/Newhook/CC/SZK progressing (in that order). Surrounding Slaf with vets should further help him ease into the NHL. This also give RHP/Ylonen another opportunity to make their case for top 6 roles. Maybe they can, maybe they can’t. Either way, we’re not expecting the playoffs with this roster yet so why not experiment with them while Roy/Beck/Farrell/Kidney cook?
Dach going down is horrible. Let’s not lose an opportunity to let some gems shine.
Two fucking games in and both the first and second lines are now a shadow of what they could be. Not to diss RHP or Anderson but RHP on the first line is not what you want to see. So fucking disheartening. I really felt that this team could surprise if they could stay healthy. Maybe not make the playoffs but give us a ride, make the year interesting. Can’t help but sit here and wonder “who next?” because it seems that is how it is with this team.
Well we know Dach can play second line if newhook can develop as a centre then that solidifies third line
