The team continues to impress so far. After 2 high energy games, this was a snooze fest but a dominant type of win vs a team you are supposed to beat was impressive.
The huge red flag that could be this team’s downfall is Ben Chiarot, and Newsy’s insistence on playing him (likely due to the ridiculous contract Yzerman gave him). Whenever you see the opposition have a real good scoring chance, their is a 98% chance Chiarot will be on the ice. The guy is almost a living power play to the opponent. Newsy/Yzerman have to swallow their pride/eat the money and put that obviously incompetent clown in the press box

The way offense is being created feels different. Maybe even remienescent of the better days. I'm hoping this is the turn we are all hoping for.
The reason they look so good on hockey stat cards is because that also figures in 5v5 goals for and against. So even if a line is dominating, if they dont manage to get a goal they dont look as good on the game score. While I understand why they do it, it is also similar to plus/minus, where you can get a positive or negative score for just for being on the ice.
