Not calling the world’s most obvious trip on Mercer, uh, yeah.
I’m not mad about the game, just disappointed.
What’s on your mind?
Back at it Friday!

Next game isn’t until Friday – It’s going to be a tough few practices after that performance.
1-1-1 start. The sky is not fucking falling.
Positives takeaways: Nico is good at faceoffs again. Also, those three guys we have who know how to score this year still know how to score. So that’s good. And I think that’s about it.
I don’t mind them not having a game for several days. Seems a few guys need to remember how to play.
Our defense sucks and we start slow. Offense is good, not worried about them at all. PP needs to throw pucks to the god damned net. Goaltending is weak, sorry Vitek fanatics he’s just not very good. These are reasons we lost, yeah the non call trip on Dawson was awful but no excuse. This is on Lindy failing to prepare them and on Fitz for letting Graves and Sevy walk.
A lot has been said about Timo, but those that are old enough remember that with kovalchuck it was the same scenario. Kovy was an 80-90 point player but then dropped to about 60 points in his first full year with the devils 10-11. He then rebounded in his next year. For whatever reason it takes a player a full year to really acclimate.
Why? Perhaps it’s injuries? Dougie Hamilton was a non factor in his first year, but we know for a fact he was injured.
It’s just a trend I’ve noticed. Hall is the other player but comparisons are difficult since he often injured throughout his career so that makes it skewed. You’d have to go to the pt per game metric.
Probably going to be a bit of an unpopular opinion: we should split up Jack and Bratt. They are absolutely electric together and are a treat to watch, but I think the lineup as a whole is more balanced when they are split. Both of those guys are zone entry machines and make their line mates better.
When we struggled in the playoffs Lindy put Meier-Hughes-Mercer together against Carolina and I thought that was our most dominant line. I would like to see that combo and then the rest shake out something like this:
Meier-Hughes-Mercer
Toffoli – Hischier -Bratt
Palat – Haula – Holtz
McLeod and whoever is playing that day.
Overall not worried at all about the team. The offense has come out flat every game but they will put it together. I think the goalies have looked fine. Defense had a lot of turnover and is now less experienced overall. That is going to lead to some growing pains.
We lost 5 out of our top 11 scorers from last year and the replacements haven’t done enough. Furthermore, our goaltending is statistically below league average. This is not a recipe for success.
No one likes the person who always thinks it’s the refs fault their team lost. They’re fucking stupid. Yet I feel no one ever points out the opposite guy. The guy who, no matter what happens, will always say it’s the team’s fault they lost. Yeah, no shit the Devil’s played like ass for 45 minutes and got into a 4-0 hole. That’s why we lost. Still, you have to admit the missed trip call played a factor too. I get you want to be on the main sub looking like you’re the “good” fan who’s noble and rational for the upvotes. But if you can’t admit missing a clear trip that would’ve led to a 2 minutes of 6-4, down one goal with all the momentum, didn’t play a factor in us losing, then you’re just as insane as the person who thinks we only lost because of the missed trip.
Let’s see how strict Lindy’s benching criteria is when Smith takes 3 penalties on Friday
Some of the comments thrown out there will age as poorly as the “Fire Lindy” chants from the beginning of last season
While they did show some fight, I think we’re just going through a transition period and the players are taking a bit to acclimate. Nico is without Tatar and we have less of a veteran presence on the blue line without Gravy and Severson which ultimately affects our special teams as well. I think this could take up to 10 games for the players to finally settle in. It takes time to rebuild the chemistry. Remember all those years we started off hot and fizzled out when the teams that were actually good started rolling? Our time will come very soon
Stadium Series presale begins today at 12 PM, code – SSMLIFE24
I think these guys really need to get on the road. They were the best road team in the league and usually looked better than at home. Time for a trip
I’m just frustrated that this team seemingly has to spot every opponent a multi-goal lead before they start trying. And I have no answers why that is. Even Bryce said that the team had a -40 goal differential in the first period last year.
The sky isn’t falling, but I feel like I’m allowed to shake my fist at the sky screaming why.
If the whole team played just okay, we’d be 3-0. Not even good. Just okay. I can’t imagine “dogshit” is how they’ll be all year.
It’s fucking fine. Calm down. We had the same frustrations last year and have lost a couple of key players; team needs time to gel. We’ll be fine.
I don’t know what I was expecting out of Toffoli, but its definitely not what we’re getting. Based on Holtz performance last night I’d like to see him get a shot on the Hughes/Bratt line while Toffoli gets acclimated to the new team, with less pressure on the 3rd line.
I think it’s obvious to everyone why Meier didn’t play in the 3rd period. Does anyone know of any specific plays or goals against that lead to Marino getting benched?
