OK Guys, are the Habs cursed? Because it sure feels that way. Only 2 games into the regular season, and Eric Engels reports that Kirby Dach is going to be out long term with a torn ACL + MCL in his knee. This is very unfortunate as Dach has been one of the Canadiens best players!! Lets break down the play that led to this injury and go into further detail..

I would also like to add.. As frustrating as Kirby Dach's injury is for Habs fans.. I can't even begin to imagine how frustrated Kirby himself feels right now, thats gotta be heartbreaking.
Yes, he is young, but with the number of injuries he's endured and the frequency with which they happen, his career is numbered, sooner rather than later.
How are we not supposed to be concerned for Dach futur ? He’s surely young but when you are young , you are not supposed to be injured every single seasons and it’s not like if it’s was small injury , were talking about BIG trouble that somtime end carrer so the fact that Dach is always injured is pretty scary .
I'm sorry for Dach but the chemistry he was developing with Slafkovsky was really showing too. And I'm pretty sure I'm gonna puke if this means Armia comes back up !
Poeple are stupid werw about to be bottom feeders again and all players are gonna get injured again cause what else would happen
Dach has a great head and great skills, but he's also got a fragile body. That's not a long term combo.
This sucks, obviously… For the Habs, but mostly for him.
As for his future, NOT WORRIED ATALL.
With today's technology, his work ethic… HE WILL BE BACK.
l why would you go after somebody who's made of peanut brittle, this is known it's a shame he seems like a good player but now you got nothing for your troubles
He will be fine once he heals his knee. That said…it sucks. Apparently the injury happened after he was already in the hawks bench and his knee slid into the stanchion.
This is a heart breaker. The guy has so much star potential and I really hate to see anyone (well maybe not Brady Tkachuk) get seriously injured.
He is out for the year, and he will be lucky to ever play again.
Since they destroyed the old forum they are losing the bell / molson centre is cursed because they disrespected the old forum
Yep. Concerned. Definitely concerned.
Absolutely brutal
Hey Junk. To answer to your questions?
Cursed? Yes. From an ex Hab draft mistake of the past too lol. Of course!
Season over for Dach? If it's an ACL, it SHOULD end his season, because I don't want to see the same BS from last year, with guys CLEARLY not ready back on the ice prematurely. Some heads did fall this summer because of that kind of shoddy work, so my hope is that we're beck with a good medical team from top to bottom.
I say "should" because if it's straight up ACL then it's at least 8 month of recovery (although yes, that number has been getting lower and lower, and depending on the specific athlete a FULL recovery can sometimes be achieve in less than 6 months. But as long as it's not a FULL recovery, I don't want to see him on the ice…).
Is it compromising his development? It's a big bump in the road for sure, and he must feel extremely frustrated since it happened last year too. IMHO having the right resources to deal with that type of frustration will be insanely important. If it's the ACL and torn (or worst), it will take time.
But NO I don't think it will matter in the end, my dear Junky 🙂 He's a freaking beast dude, and so far nothing is there to definitely say that he an "injury prone" player, because it's still very much in the realm of "having shitty luck"; Otherwise ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE (except Ironman Nick) in the team would also be considered "injury prone."
It's terribly disappointing for us fans and for the player, but outside of that, unless we get the same level of historic numbers of injuries as last year (and if so, should definitely cause mass curb kicking of anyone related to physical health, and start from scratch or something), I think we're good dude.
And it's a huge test for our latest acquisition that's for sure. Or we can move up Monahan, but I don't think it will be needed. We sure miss a big of size on our current top 6 though. Just imagine if ALL the people ready to trade the only vet and big boy we have up front would have had their way. WE NEED HIM PEOPLE 😛 Simple as that.
My main thing this season :
WE . NEED . TO . SEE . COLE . SCORING . 40 OR SO . GOALS (before he gets hurts and has to wait next season lol). So put him in a medieval full plate armor if need be, he needs a full (or full ish) season. We need it as fans, seriously! No…?
Can't wait to see him in the 2024-2025 season. Seriously, I was exited to see him this year but I'm slowly realizing that he is made of glass… or at least this is what it looks like.
Dach, Dach…goosed. After the last two seasons of injuries, I think we're all a little tense seeing any of the boys take even a bit of contact, and the Tinordi hit on Dach didn't even look so bad. Kirby will bounce back, though. Let's hope it's the worst injury we see all year, and let's hope someone like Wawa is given the opportunity to shine.
Kirby Dach was by far the Habs biggest standout those first 2 games and he will be very missed. It might suck for us right now but it's sucks twice as bad for Kirby. He's going to work fucking hard to come back from this. we all just have to stay positive and stop blaming him. It's a bad injury but he'll be back.
No curse just lack of balls. Nobody went after him for that can you imagine. If tinordi. Did this in Boston.
Let's see Dach next year. Lots of guys miss seasons and are great players. Dach is young and has guys like Monahan and Gallagher to help him understand his path back.
Only good thing about injuries is it gives some other guys a chance to show their stuff. We might not have RHP in the lineup right now if we hadn’t been so injured last year and if he hadn’t had the chance to prove himself. Hopefully Newhook shows us he’s up to the challenge of filling in those shoes, and if not, maybe a call up will eventually get the break they’ve been waiting for. It’s a shame though for sure.
A skinny guy like Dach, should reconsider attempting to enter the offensive zone, along the boards.
Dach has to get over the injury problems. he still is not as bad as Nolan Patrick who never played a full seasons in the 5 years b4 he was drafted and still went 2nd… but is still injury prone
I was so excited for his season. I hope he recovers miraculously fast and never gets injured again
This sucks. I wonder if his knee got clipped on the top of the bench door as he slid across.
Hope he has a speedy recovery and it isn't as gnarly as it seems.
Great video junkie! I m super depressed he was my favorite forward on our team ,but yeah his luck stinks . And I can tell you I had the exact same injury, and it put me out 16 mths . Mind you I m sure there's better programs of rehab for the pros . Really finding it hard. Now my concern is for Slav s game . I think Monohan would ve been a better fit for Slav than Anderson. I would ve left Newhook on the wing and just moved Monohan up Than Evans into third line center than Ylonen into 4th line center but added Roy to right wing on that fourth line ,and sat Gally who has been left behind in the dust. Sorry I like Gally ,but his play isn't worthy of being in the lineup. And I think this is the best we're going to see out of Gally. He s I hate to say finished. Ild rather see a kid in his spot.
Concerned is an understatement. Maybe the knee was already banged up. Time to trade for his brother Colton Dach.
If you look closely, Tinordi's right skate hit Dach left skate and then hit knee to knee from the side. That's a dangerous hit from Tinordi.
I think Dach is cursed. He reminds me of Nolan Patrick. I hope that he gets better & plays with us but I think he will be one of those players that is just injury proned
Sounds like Robby Fabbri the glass rod thats breaks and breaks and breaks.
See you next year Kirby.
