Avalanche Head Into Seattle With Last Year’s Playoffs on Their Mind. What Are the Keys to the Game?

Is the third game of the season a defining point for the Colorado Avalanche? No. Is it a game where they might have a little extra pep in their skating step? Since it’s against the Seattle Kraken, the very team who eliminated them from the playoffs last year, probably.

The Avalanche look to continue their solid start to the season while at the same time keeping the Seattle Kraken out of the win column to start theirs. Seattle has struggled to score in the early going, but that’s also a reason to be ready for a team that will do everything in their power to give the home crowd something to cheer for in their home opener.

We dive into what we can expect from this game, why the depth lines are again important, and give some predictions.

  1. I can't believe that the Blackhawks beat the Leafs and the Ducks beat the Canes. This is nuts! It's early but it seems that there's no such thing as taking a night off.

  2. When you guys do the opening I always think about the airplane scene from Tommy boy🤣

  3. Seattle home opener. Might be what the Kraken needs to get going. I think the importance of this game might be overblown a bit. It's just one game. Revenge would be beating the Kraken in the playoffs this seaon, should that happen. Avs win in OT 3-2.

  4. Excited for the game but not really from a revenge factor. The series loss was more a product of a depleted, beaten up and gassed Avs team that likely would’ve been ousted in round two anyway had they won game 7. My excitement is to start the season 3-0 on a road trip and establish that road warrior mentality right out of the gate. Asserting their dominance over Seattle would be a nice little cherry on top but also have to keep the eye on the prize which is simply 2 points.

  5. Gentlemen! Absolutely love your podcast! I was wondering if I could get a birthday shout out from you guys on air in your next episode! I haven't missed an episode in over 2 years and you guys are my idols! My name is Dani G 🙂 Fingers crossed 🤞 🤞 🤞

  6. Going with a 4-1 to Avs, lack of scoring so far from Seattle Vs our scoring (sharks game if not for Blackwood would be 6-1 easy) I think this is where we see RyJo score along with Miles Wood.

Also 2 games in and I am on the Miles Wood train, that guy is everywhere and I’m rooting for him

Cogs with an empty net goal too just as icing on the cake

  7. The only thing that would concern me about lots of penalties is somebody maybe revenge-headhunting Cale. Don't really see that happening, but you never know.
I think this will be another strong performance from the Avs, Seattle will keep it close with their effort for their home opener, but our scoring will kick in on the middle lines and it'll be 4-2.

  8. Doesn't slow, slushy ice have a much greater impact on a "fast" team than it does a "slow" team? Couldn't it be considered a sneaky, underhanded, kinda nasty "strategy" for a slow home team? Slip a fiver to the Zambonist….

  9. Agreed. Avs want a good season starter. Kraken are that good. But avs 3-2. Avs pull ahead early but Kraken smoke us in shots.

  10. It is tough not to carry some animosity towards Seattle going forward. Similar to Blackwood for the Sharks, krakens goaltending was ridiculous for one round against us. Very unlucky we hit so many posts. Next year during the playoffs I hope we have a rematch in rd 2
