  1. using these players for my top 10 I'd have:
    1. Power
    2. L. Hughes
    3. Sanderson
    4. Nemec
    5. Edvinsson
    6. Jiricek
    7. Clarke
    8. Zellweger
    9. Mateychuk
    10. Perunovich

  2. I’m curious if power and Hughes were both drafted after their respective freshman years who should have gone first. Power is definitely better defensively but Hughes’s offense as a freshman d man was insane almost ppg

  3. Love to see the Devils future Blue Line with the top two picks!

  4. I don't see Nemec or Clarke better than Power. It's nice to be fan of Columbus or NJ

  5. mo seider along with edvinsson … good luck nhl. Also edvinssons one true Offensive Gift is bis breakout passes. He’s made passes I’ve only seen Karlssson make.

  6. 08:35 “Thats not the best points production” Oh come on 59 points in 55 games in the OHL is better than most defenceman on this list including Owen Powers and Jake Sanderson. He definitely deserves to be in the conversation for top 3 defenseman prospects.

  7. Brandt Clarke definitely belongs at #3. He was second in the OHL last year in points per game. In the OHL last year only Nathan Staios had slightly more PPG than Brandt but he is two years older than Brandt. He is going to be an offensive beast some day in the NHL. My only worry with him is whether he will be somewhat defensively responsible or will he be another one dimensional offensive D man.

  8. 😂😂😂 why would you do a video on a fan based poll there is no merit to it.

I think Hughes is great but his PPG was inflated playing on a team with 3 top 5 picks (Power Beniers Johnson) and 2 other high end prospects (Brisson Bordeleau). Dont be surprised if we dont see a big jump in production next year with them gone. It's why Boeser had an unbelievable freshman year and his sophomore season saw a drop in production

In contrast Sanderson had the best PPG for a Dman while playing with literally nobody notable. If you are so inclined to check look at the roster.

  9. I'm not hating on Power I'm just asking the question, if he was so good this past season why was Luke Hughes nominated for the Hobey Baker and not Power ?.

  10. sanderson shoudl easily be #1 theres no other player who plays such a complete and elite game

  11. I am extremely biased but I think Jiricek will turn out the best because he is so well rounded and intelligent

  12. Albert Johansson just finished up an approx 0.5ppg pace (25pts in 52 games) in his SHL season and was a big part of Farestad winning the championship. It's crazy how under-the-radar Johansson has gone with general consensus rankings/prospect writers etc. Scoring in the SHL is much lower overall, so those numbers are very impressive, especially compared to a player in juniors/NCAA etc.

  13. I'm happy Edvinsson made it, but I wanted to see Soderblom 😁 he's a 6' 8'' winger that skates well for a player his size!

  14. I like the idea of fan voting, but it also isn't end all be all thats for sure. Which one of these defensemen were finalists in rookie of the year voting in the league that is closest to the NHL talent wise? Number 8 is hilariously low for Edvinsson. Atleast 1-4 range.

  15. Power might not be the #1 D prospect but I think his ceiling is higher than everyone else on this list. He’s got Victor Hedman like potential.

  16. It's kinda weird how underrated Edvinsson seems to be. Looking like he will be a Seider 2.0 and surprise a lot of people who weren't really paying attention to him.

    My top 3
    1. Power
    2. Edvinsson
    3. Nemec

  17. The people who ranked the defensemen seem to equate the SHL with junior hockey leagues, which couldn’t be further from the truth. SHL may be the second toughest league in the world.
