Sabres avoid disaster against Lightning

The Sabres outplayed the Tampa Bay Lightning for 59 minutes and 53 seconds on Tuesday night, but almost blew it. Sneaky Joe talks about a huge win over a divisional opponent, including strong games from Zemgus Girgensons and Devon Levi, as well as a clutch goal from Dylan Cozens after a third game in a row in which he struggled.

Plus, did Tampa show Sabres fans how vulnerable they are?

  1. Thompson doesn't seem to be anticipating the play very good. I see him floating around in no man's land instead of anticipating the play and forechecking more.

  2. I hated the defensive shell they went in for the last 5-10 minutes of the game. Just flipping the puck out and letting Tampa come right back in.

  3. NGL I’ve listened to post game for many years and WGR in general and this is the first time I’ve seen this man’s face 😂😂 what fan I am I didn’t even know locked on bills and Sabres had YouTube pages

  4. Im pretty sure that despite Krebs quality of play, the reason that Granato is going to try a keep him on the 3rd line is to keep Jost in the lineup. Jost recorded 3 shots, 2 hits and an assist. This is affording Granato the option to give Krebs a an opportunity to rediscover his offensive touch, knowing that Jost could fill in on the 4th line without that line taking a step backwards.

  5. Greenway is a beast, looks like a completely different player now that he's healthy. He can move for a big man, has some offensive skill and really know how to use his size. Mitts looks great to me so far and Benson certainly doesn't look out of place. Hope he stays with the team because that line goes to work on every single shift. Hoping that OT winner gets Cousins going and also, I'm not worried about our top line, they're creating chances and getting some good offensive zone time.

  6. I think Dahlin needs to work on taking less penalties, feels like every single game he's in the box for something.
