Listen. I was on the trade nylander hype for a while a few years ago… but willy has showed he can be elite when he wants too, he’s tired of being in auston and mitchs shadow. Sign the kid for what he wants he will prove he’s worth the money. Trade cry baby Mitchell for a top defender and we can finally have a balanced team
I used to be the biggest Nylander detractor, but he's definitely turned into a solid player who can drive a game single-handedly when he's motivated. I don't know if he'll be one of those guys who fall off after getting paid, but I don't think so. I think his laid back attitude is due to growing up as the son of an NHLer. He's gotten thick in the past two seasons so he can play down-low hockey now, where he avoided it before. I never want to see him quit like on that notorious Tampa play, however, I think he can be counted on to play hard…the skill has always been there. That beef and his will to play in tough areas has made him well worth whatever bag he's gonna get from the Leafs. I hope he stays…and I honestly was one of the many "trade Nylander" guys. Go Nylander!

Signing Willie at 9.5M.That would leave them 24.95 M next season if the cap goes up to 87.5M, which really is a guess. 12 players signed the big 5 and Kampf, Reaves, Knies, Minten, McCabe, Jarnkrok and Woll. Not a lot to work with to sign 8 guys to just have a 20 man roster.
Nylander is not worth more than Aho imo. He wants that kind of money he can go… We need a defenceman and cap space. He is a defensive liability
Let's not forget that Tavares's contract is coming up and he will definitely be taking a discount so there will be some room there as well.
