This is a ref’s worst nightmare

Kelly Sutherland just screwed over the New York Rangers, in not one way but three. We’ll talk all that and more as we recap the New York Rangers vs the Arizona Coyotes on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Its been about a year since I have started watching your videos and I am so grateful for the great content and information. keep it up Eck!

  2. Sometimes those striped zebras make mistakes, but they are the ones that make the game possible so they always have my repect.

  3. The slashing call was ridiculous but shooting the puck after the play is a no no. Not sure where u guys played but that’s something you don’t even do in practice after the whistle

  4. Was there for the game. Wow did we light up those refs for screwing the pooch on that whole exchange. Maybe the Panarin part of it was understandable, stuff happens, but man all three events in one rush? Terrible.

Also, there was no need whatsoever for that icing at the end to be called. Putting the .5 seconds back on just meant Arizona would be in a nice position to get froggy after losing the game, and that scrum was a direct result of it all.

And yes, Panarin is looking outstanding this year. So is Lafrenière, much more noticable in a good way.

  5. Dont get me started on refs in msg. One singular ref ruined the canes 17 game win streak or something against the rangers with bs penalties and even then I think we only lost by one. Everytime we play against the rangers in new york they call the worst penalties against Carolina. Feels good the rangers can feel what we feel for once

  6. I was there on Monday. Saying the crowd exploded after the 5v3 was called is an understatement LOL

  7. Killing that 5-on-3 was huge for the team. Helped that it was broken up by intermission. Seems weird to me that after seeing your partner take away a scoring opportunity, you'd then call a soft "slash" and then also penalize a player who was rightfully showing frustration.

Anyway, a win's a win. Would love to see a video about Shesty mixing it up with the Yotes after the final buzzer.

  8. I was at the game yah the “These refs suck” chant was fun and Igor stopping the penalty shot goal in the 3rd was great.

  9. You should’ve watched the jets game yesterday. Perfetti gets pushed into the boards, and it was clearly a boarding penalty, possibly double minor or major, and the jets get a penalty. What the heck!?

  10. Totally agreed on Panarin’s play. Always an elite player but he’s giving more defensive effort and isn’t afraid to shoot the puck. I hope to see consistent great play from him through 82+ games

  11. You definitely don't see dudes firing the puck off the boards in frustration "all the time"

Bit of a Homer moment… but super glad they killed it, real tough to put your team in a 2-man down on something like that.

Maybe he figured the stripes wouldn't make it a 5 on 3 for something to dumb

  12. Nice guys finish last. Panarin should have given the ref an earful. Justified a real unsportsman like conduct.

  13. The referee who called the double penalties is an official whos not full time NHL. Slashing calls are the most inconsistent calls while high sticks are the most missed.

While im kind of whatever on the slash the unsportsmanlike penalty is deserved. You dont see players shooting the puck after the whistle and definitely not to the side of the ice the official is on. The referee being AHL/NHL also likely felt lindgren was showing him up and wasnt going to tolerate potential disrespect.

  14. Idk I think he could’ve dead stopped why did the ref have to go immediately go towards the boards into the olayers

  15. Makar getting to 250 pts faster than any other defenceman…. okay, im totally partisan, im an Avs fan…

  16. As for the calls… as a ref, its a judgement call… sometimes you just know a player is being an ass and needs to be called on it. Sometimes though, you can misinterpret the intentions…

  17. those were all real calls. Shooting after the whistle, tap in the hands. These are textbook…

  18. This situation perfectly displays why I am so grateful for the officials in the NHL compared to every other major sport in North America. Immediately just went over and apologized, and Panarin immediately accepted it and that was that. Handled like adults. Keeps a good level of mutual respect between players and refs that I feel is severely lacking in baseball and basketball at the least. Can't really speak on football, not much of a regular viewer.

  19. Whoa.. what about Igor getting into a fight at the end to protect his team mates and Trouba pinning that guy to the ice for touching Igor
