Red Wings making the Playoffs this season?

What do you guys think of this article? It’s a tough division to make playoffs in.

I think we’ve played 3 games. Not worth talking about until Thanksgiving

  2. I’ve expected it since they added DeBrincat. When they added cat, they had officially upgraded every forward line, as well as every d pair beyond Walman -Seider.

Not only did cat turbocharge the first line, that also made Raymond/Perron go down to the second line. Which already added Compher after a career year for the Aves. Then Copp goes to 3c and they add 20 goal scorer Sprong.

And on top of it all, Ras also came back healthy.

Even the 4th line is a true defensive/checking line with some skill.

With all the younger guys like Bergg and Edvinsson and Soda in GR, if someone gets hurt in the D, the wings are calling up one of those guys and not a Czarnik, Rafferty, or Lashoff to fill that spot. Nothing against those guys, but Ed Soda and Berg are all legit young NHL talent.

So yeah I’ve seen this coming for months

If we play like we have through 3 games for the remaining 79 we should be right there. Unfortunately I doubt that happens.

  4. Let’s pump the breaks big time, it’s been 3 games….but yes, obviously they’re a lock. I‘ve been chugging all the red koolaid btw

  5. It’s been positive so far but I’m not convinced yet

    *Negatives:*

    Too many penalties

    Too many odd man rushes

    Too many defensive coverage breakdowns

Husso hasn’t looked good in his starts IMO

    *Positives:*

    Better puck possession

    Better special teams play

    Better offense

    Depth has been noticeable

That should be the goal for this organization. Like it or not, 8 seasons is a long ass time to rebuild in the salary cap era. Plus they’re in this fancy new arena which hasn’t hosted a playoff game to date. They’re going for it difficult division or not

I already got my 2023-24 Stanley Cup Champions tattoo which, much like this article, was premature

Who was it last year that was unrelenting pressure? I want to say it was the Flames and someone else but cannot remember who. Anyway the point I’m going at here is we are off to a good start and the offense is churning goals. Once we hit a team that keeps their head up and is able to push out of the zone or enter cleanly we will be in trouble.

I hope I’m wrong and we are able to adjust defensively but we shall see.

    >but it’s only three games which is a small sample size for anyone to analyze.

The last sentence of the article summarizes that this was a completely useless article.

    Not if Husso’s SV% doesn’t improve dramatically.

  11. McLargeHuge89

Yup for sure and Debrincats also on pace for 82 goals this season!

  12. ennuiinmotion

I think we will. We came close last season, if they had tried after the Ottawa games and Yzerman not signaled we weren’t going to compete it would’ve been damn close. And I think we’re better this season. Other teams are, too, but I don’t see why some people are so down on our chances. And I’m not going off these three games. I was saying this before we started. Barring some catastrophic series of injuries or something we should make it.

  13. “It’s only been three games!” (In whiney beta voice)

Shut up. The answer is yes.

    **YES**

Bobby loses his mind, Levi isn’t ready for the spotlight, DJ Smith isn’t able to teach the Sens about structure and defense…sure I see a path.

Who gives a fuck, we’re watchable for now and fun. Enjoy it

I think we’ve seen enough to be sure that this team is improved over last season’s edition. Is the improvement enough to compete for a playoff spot, and possibly even get in? Way too early I think.

I will say that Sprong sure looks like what I had hoped Vrana was, and Cat is a big upgrade over Bert on the top line. We also haven’t been this deep at center in ages.

If the team stays consistent, then yes.

Will be funny to see what the team looks like next year. It’s basically a team of rentals until the kids are ready lol

LMAO we aren’t even 10 deep homer. I really want the Wings to do well, but damn. There’s a difference between desire and reality.

  18. CursedLemon

I firmly believe the Red Wings will make the playoffs this year, and that is why I believe they will not make the playoffs this year.

  19. Calling__Elvis

That depends on how we play in Dec and Jan, now how we play in Oct and Nov. unfortunately.

  20. PegCityGolfer

Christ it’s been 3 games. I hope to see our young guys take a step forward, fight for a spot. It’s a tough division but the young guys need to step up or this rebuild is screwed

  21. el_Technico

As long as we keep scoring 4+ goals a night, we’ll win the cup.

  22. Huge_Deke19

Can’t make the playoffs in October, however, you can certainly put yourself out of contention.

  23. BoysenberrySuperb442

I’m just happy they beat the Pens! I see upside with this team. I’m hopeful for a spot in the playoffs, but I’m not holding my breath.

  24. Singularity_SgrA

I’m staying cautiously optimistic. Remember, we started last year 3-0-2. Even giving it until the end of November, we were still
    11-6-5.

These games have felt different to start this season compared to last year. I just remember some of those losses the first quarter of the season were really bad. If we’re hanging around that same point total at the end of November and look a lot sharper in losses, I’ll believe a little more. Does not help that our division is a juggernaut where I feel everyone except the Canadians have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Or, at least, push for a spot until the very end.
