You can’t use England v Scotland as a barometer of form , it’s a very unique game , you could pick 11 road sweepers off the streets of Glasgow and they’d fight for lives against England .

Here's the facts, Scotland scored 1 single goal in 3 games, they played 3, drew 1 & lost 2. The only reason they got that single point is because the opposition played terrible & the manager of that terrible team didn't have the balls to put 5 subs on & totally change the terrible teams dynamic, shape & attitude. The Scots were embarrassingly bad over the 3 games as the team they took their single point from was as embarrassingly bad as the Scots. The facts are Souness was bang on the money. Ex pro's hate criticising their mates teams & performances usually. England are continuing to stick with a Centre Forward for whatever reason isn't suited to play with the talents behind him. The very same player is Captain of the team. I defy anyone to show me in the 3 games played him showing he's worthy to be Captain. He's the most least inspiring England Captain Ive witnessed. His work rate is abysmal, admittedly he did slightly more work in his last game. He's had 1 single shot on target in 3 games. His stats as a centre forward are the 3rd worst out of 32 forwards in the Euro's. Now I can see we're crying out for something different up front. Most who have played the game at decent levels or just amateur can see this. Just because he won 3 headers & 1 tackle in his last game not 1 ex pro is saying what we all can see with our own eyes. This very talented young England team are crying out for a real Leader & Captain. Thankfully Maguire & Henderson can help massively in that dept especially Henderson. Many won't agree with me but having played at a decent level & having also obtained coaching badges In my opinion this young team is crying out for a player exactly of DCL's mould to lead the line. His work rate & physicality is a nightmare for defenders. The lad never stops, if anyone seriously thinks that any 3 out of 6 players who could be picked wouldn't profit massively from the space DCL's work rate alone would create they don't realise the talent we have in those 3 positions behind the centre forward. The single reason I can think of why he hasn't even had a decent chance is because of our manager putting all of his faith in a player that's not performing at a standard needed to be of any help to our team. Our manager won't change this unless of injury he won't even give it a try. It's for that fact I'm getting increasingly frustrated at our team. Clearly we have problems up front. Clearly the players behind our centre forward are performing. Yet we have 2 goals from 3 games against teams that are no where near the good teams in this tournament. You can't argue with the facts in front of us. We can't argue with the fact Grealish has played 3 games in a row for England and easily been at the required levels for a successful team. Saka was outstanding as well in the last game. I told my son (who incidentally was a centre forward who played for pro clubs) that Saka would shade Grealish before a ball was kicked in the last game. I predicted that on who he was up against. Football isn't complicated it's Managers who over complicate things sometimes. Our attacking youngsters are the envy of many teams, sadly they're being shackled by their manager. Picking the so called best individuals has been England's biggest problem for decades. Balance & blend of a team will beat individuals 99 times out of 100. Ex pro's no this players know this managers know this & anyone who knows football knows this. We need a few ex pros to start telling it like it is. We can all see it.

Similar to England an inability to control possession will out you at the highest level. England's physicality can cover for this until the latter stages when they'll be outclassed as usual too. Our style is too rushed and lacks intellect which will always limit progress in big tournaments.

Souness simply shoots from the hip. That’s why some like, some hate! Personally I like him. Clarke fucked the Euros the moment he picked that team the first game. But doesn’t help not having a clinical striker. We need to progress as a nation and fast! There’s signs there, but let’s be honest we’re never going to be world beaters lol
Souness is spot on and he should know being the player he was . An ageing Croatia team totally controlled the game from start to finish and we were the home team . We are still well behind even nations like Denmark and Sweden when it comes to control of the ball in games . Will it ever change ? Not so sure .fed up hearing players and managers saying its a learning curve decade after decade .
