On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we discuss the move to put Alex Goligoski on LTIR and what it allows the Wild to do while he’s out of the lineup. We break down how Goligoski’s AAV gets split up based on performance bonuses and actual cap space to determine how much money the Wild have available to them. We also look at why there can be ramifications next season as well depending on how it is utilized, which is why we probably haven’t seen the Wild use it much over the last few years. This team just got a LOT better IMO.
See you in a month Goose, at least you cant hurt this team for that short stretch, thankfully. Ill also state that NOBODY cares about his Minnesota roots man, he's almost 40 years old. Compared to Faber's backstory, it's like night and day comparison. Everyone's rooting for Faber, and rightfully so. Get lost Goose.
I think it is huge for Sammy Walker! I hope this goes well for him. He has s bright future. I hope he dents the net a lot.
LTIR is 10 games or 24 days (minimum) So technically BG could bring Goli back in less than a month. I think to trade him (if he were to waive his 35+ NMC) BG would need to retain $1M. Which would end up saving you a only $100K+ because you'd call up "insert name here" from Iowa to replace. Also, Walker has to give BG a reason to NOT send him back to Iowa and it can't be just "Boy, he sure looked the part out there".

Great point, Goligoski deserves better. His is kind of a scapegoat right now. Even the penalty in Toronto was bullshit, swearing at an official – big deal, it goes on non stop with the chirping all game long. It would not have been called on Toronto. To make that call at that time in a 4-3 game is crazy. As for Merrill, ideally he is a 7-8 D – filler, not a 5-6. As for the cap and LTIR I give 🙃 as last year with Stone miraculously getting healthy right as the playoffs started, Vegas was +9 million and we were -9 with our situation. Just glad the Wild will have bodies tonight with Walker and Mermis. Walking into a game with 11 forwards and 6 D is asking for trouble, glad it was Montreal and not colorado.
Walker needs to put on a clinic to make sure Billy tells Goose to stay on LTIR until the season is done

My question is, they use terms like upper body or lower body injury. NFL uses the medically correct term like anterior cruciate ligament, why is the NHL so vague?
I’m going to go out on a ledge and say that if he stays healthy, Connor Dewar is going to be a 20 goal scorer this season.
